The Devil in Dover follows a religious outsider's view of the school board debate in Dover, Pennsylvania, in 2004 concerning the legality of teaching Intelligent Design (ID) in public schools. Lauri Lebo, the daughter of a local fundamentalist Christian - but not a Christian herself - follows the events and players through the length of the trial drama, all the while injecting her own encounters with faith, creationism, evolution and how they have affected her life. As a document of how a non-Christian layperson viewed the events of the trial, it contains intriguing information and thought-provoking anecdotes.
