Ida was a young and untrained medical missionary's daughter when the knocks at the door came. Three times, men came beseeching her help for their wives dying in childbirth; that night, Ida knew she must return with the skills to help these women. Ida returned to India and began a hospital, nursing school, and eventually a full fledged medical school for the first Indian women doctors. Through her medical expertise, thousands of women were saved through her work, and through the legacy of the future generations of women doctors. 188 pages, softcover.

This is a book that every parent should read to their children. As I was reading this book to my children there were several times when tears ran down my face. What God did touched me so much. The work that he did through the Scudder's and others in India is amazing. It will allow one to see God's awesome power and the rewards of following Him and doing His work. This book will challenge readers to really get a clearer picture of missions and the work that it takes. Excellent book!!
