It was a great learning lesson for my five year old daughter and an important reminder for me as well. Especially in a time where beauty is supposedly only found in the outer appearance, this story portrays the opposite. God sees our beauty from within :)

I recently bought both this one and "Drummer Boy" veggie tales movie. I have to tell you. I was impressed with both of them. The Biblical message was more central than it has been in the past Veggie Tales (ever since it originally went out of business it seems the message moved ever so sharply away from the centrality of the Bible and more to love, love, and more love). This was a clear message that stuck against the world's view of beauty and value. This is a much needed message today and I praise God that it seems that Veggie Tales appears to be "righting the ship".

    In Christ,

    Scott

It is, in my opinion, one of their best ones so far, right there with the Snoodle's Tale and Madam Blueberry :) In some other ones of their stories, there is just too much goofy stuff for me, but in this one the message is so important and so much needed in our culture today, that any goofy stuff I found is nothing compared with the power of what the story is telling the kids, and the grown-ups, too :) that what we really should worry about is how we look on the inside, and not seek the deceitful acceptance of others. It actually has two parts, one is the girl version of the Snoodle's Tale in Cinderella style, and the other is the actual Sweet Pea Beauty story (will remind you of another princess story everybody knows, but with a much better twist :)

My girls really liked both segments, and also got the message that beauty comes from the heart. They love to quote the scripture about people looking at outward appearances, but God looks at the heart.
