It is a very good story but maybe most enjoyed by young adults. It was interesting to learn about canal boats pulled by mules and how a family can manage to live that lifestyle. I liked Kelly & Mike's character very much. I liked the reader's voice tone but maybe not so much the hillbilly style. I most enjoy historical novels like this one. Thank you.

Booklover

I love reading historical novels, I like to learn about our history. I learned a lot about canal life from this book. Kelly is a very hardworking young lady doing a job usually done by young men or boys. She has a real talent for drawing and has to find creative ways to do it. I love her spirit and determination and willingness to change and grow. This is a great story you will not want to put it down!!
