The movie version of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" did not do justice to the book. It was only 60 minutes in length. The story of the Herdman's and the transformation of their family as they practiced for the Christmas pageant could have filled another hour, felt more complete, and been more enjoyable.

It's not often you get to surprise your adult kids with something they treasure from their childhood. The book, the play, the movie of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever are all part of their generation's Christmas. To be able to pass this on to my grandkids, in DVD format, was one of the highlights of our Christmas this year. I don't know who was more excited; the adults or their kids! Now they too get to laugh and remember as they tell their own Christmas Pageant stories ~ starring as angels, shepherds, wise men, in mom & dad's bath robes; grandmas jewelry box of gems sparkling in the stage lights ~ great family memories to share and an hilarious movie version that captures it all perfectly.

Love, Love love this story. A valuable lesson for church and non-church alike. I was a bit disapointed in that I would have thought with today's technology, that it would have had more clearity.

Years ago I picked this up as a second hand book and fell in love with the story. Over the years,I read it every Christmas to our children and those that I day cared for. This story had lessons everywhere,about poverty,struggles,differences and acceptance of people different from our pre conceptions of behaviour and decorum. When the movie was in production a friend of ours was given a small part,well, that made the movie all the better,it is a timeless story and one that should become a "classic".

I loved this dvd mostly for the content, not the quality of the dvd. A wonderful, short, eye opener for seeing what children who do not understand Christmas must think of the whole season. Lovely how they can be reached.

My granddaughter and I saw the play in December and I remembered this story was a made for TV movie back in the 1980"s. I purchased this dvd for my granddaughter, still loved the story, however, I was disappointed with the quality of the reproduction it made from a TV movie to a dvd, especially when the cost was that of a new movie release.
