Thomas Nelson The Real Me - eBook

You're too fat. You're too skinny. Your hair isn't curly enough. Your nose is too big. If only your face looked like hers.
There are many voices in this world telling us how we should think of ourselves. Television and the media pat pictures of perfection that are a far cry form God's perspective on who we really are. It is amazing how often we believe these lies and live as though they were true. But they're not true. Not God's truth.

In The Real Me, contemporary singer/songwriter Natalie Grant shares how a distorted self-image pushed her to a destructive eating disorder. Whether the story involves an eating disorder, drug addition, sexual promiscuity, or simply "acting out," Natalie reminds us that we are not alone in the journey of life. No matter what happens or what we look like, God loves us just as we are.

As a fan of Natalie Grant for the past 4 years, i was excited to see this book at a garage sale. When I got home and read it, I wanted my dollar back. honestly, the book looks so small and short that you could finish it in a single sitting, but who would? It is so boring, for one. most of it is just Natalie's story, and honestly, it makes her sound like a selfish brat. I don't understand her story, and most people won't be able to relate to her. She was smart, pretty and popular and had an eating disorder. Usually that's not how eating disorders work-it's girls who are insecure and are not liked by many. There is very little spiritual truth in this book, most of it is just fortune-cookie advice. I'm not saying its non-spiritual, its just not very deep. So unless you're less than 12, you won't benefit from reading this book.

This book was very helpful in showing me the girl that God sees. It showed me that I am not the only one who is struggling with my self image.

My 15 year old daughter is struggling with Anorexia. She is very much enjoying Natalie Grant's writing style and feels very encouraged by this book.

Wow! And once again, I say wow! This was one of those books that I really had a very difficult time putting down. Throughout a lot of the book, I had to wonder if it was still talking about Natalie, or if it was really talking about me. This is definitely a MUST READ for any girl struggling with perfectionism and/or self-image issues, whatever they may be. Very good book Natalie! God has definitely blessed you and I am so thankful for that!

Oh my I love this book. My mom got me this for my 14th birthday 2 months ago! I'm very concerned about my weight everybody says I'm really skinny and I was afraid I was going to fill out and not have my skinny figure. So when I read this book it really helped me(I'm not concerned as much as I was I'm so glad my mom got me this book). It doesn't matter how you look on the outside God cares whats on the inside. Natalie shows that in her book I loved reading her stories it helped so much. This can really help teenage girls who have a eating disorder/or is obsessed with there weight like I was.I want to meet Natalie now after I read her book. She is a really good role model for teenage girls.
