Marcher Lord Press Konig's Fire

The Nazis have established a torture center in a mine at the heart of a Romanian forest. Here they interrogate prisoners and, sometimes, throw them into the furnace at the heart of the mine.

Only now, the primeval forest is rising against them, unleashing a preternatural army to besiege the great iron gate of the mine. The fearsome guards become terrified prisoners and the furnace itself burns with hungry anger against them.

Sascha Kvnig, a man they called Nebuchadnezzar, is their only hope. He is master of the furnace. All along, he has been Hitler's ardent servant. But now...Kvnig is wrestling with demons of his own, and the Master of all fires is calling him to Himself through the haunting eyes of a little gypsy girl Kvnig did not save.

Sascha König, a man once called Nebuchadnezzar, is being held for questioning about his involvement during WW2 in the Nachthaus, a Nazi prison in the heart of a Romanian forest. Years have passed since then, but people are still looking for answers to the mysteries that went on there. So Sascha tells his story, a frightening tale of fire, demons, and a gypsy girl Sascha did not save.
My mind is still reeling! What a clever and strange story. Very well written. Creepy. Ingenious. And a quite bizarre. This story sucked me in with a strange curiosity that just kept growing and growing. It’s scary at times, borderline horror. But this book raises lots of questions in the readers mind. And not all my questions were answered in the end. This is a book that will make you think long after you’ve finished it.

You know the books that compel you to read them in one sitting? the ones that burn your mind as you desire to know what will happen to the characters? the kinds that have you checking at three in the morning to see how many pages compose the next chapter? "Only ten pages. I can read one more chapter!"
This book falls into that category. While definitely a page-turner, the philosophical ideas that permeate the pages of König's Fire also insist that the reader pause to chew and reflect. A well-crafted action thriller that investigates human nature--a must read!

Konig's Fire is a work of art. From start to finish it is compelling, moving and utterly fantastic. In raw inventiveness it rivals the writings of Stephen King at his very best. (Think "The Mist" meets "Apt Pupil" with a touch of "Desperation," both literally and figuratively.)
This book has two things that most King novels do not have, though: philosophical depth and transcendent hope. I'm amazed by how well the "big themes" were blended into a narrative that is essentially all action.
As a fellow author, I'm inspired by what Mr. Schooley has done here. Konig's Fire deserves and has my highest praises. It raises the bar for the rest of us. Well done!!
