It's Stitchcraft Christian Meditation: Doorway to the Spirit.

This book is not intended to be (but by its very nature is) controversial. The Holy Spirit's motive for inspiring this manuscript was not to stir up a storm of conflict among believers, but to simply stir believers! Buried deep within each of us lie untapped resources of power as yet unknown to modern man; powers which, if unleased by the least among our numbers, would literally shake all of Christendom...and then the world!
True, this book is not for everyone. It's not for those who refuse to be changed by the Holy Spirit; neither is it for the ones who are content to sit home idly watching television, unmoved, though revival fires burn brightly in their own churches; nor for those who often say, "I'll be okay--I'm doing my best." Rather it is for you who have longed for and searched after truth which would radically alter your divine perspectives. --Chapter One, Christian Meditation

If I could take one book along with me in addition to my Bible this would be it.
As a previous reviewer mentioned you have to glean how to meditate, but it is not so hard to collect the few points as the author clearly lays them out in his book. It is true therefore that there is no summary as on how to meditate, but the necessary elements for meditation are scattered throughout the whole book, yet it is pretty easy to collect them.
After reading the book once I meditated a lot of things with active meditation. I can truly say, that my way of thinking was changed on those areas, and I have been victorious on them (eg. completely stopping sinning in areas that proved to be a problem a few times a week, destroying "christans shall be poor, because that is humble" mentality, etc.)
You might not think that these are so great results, but they are when you get to know that fact that - for about 2.5 years now- I've been reading the Bible usually 1-1.5 hr a day, praying in tongues half an hour, making confessions half an hour, knowing a lot of Bible verses by heart that concern areas where I could not change my way of thinking(repent), also refusing things that would take time away from spending it with God (like wathing any tv), and a lot more good things.
With these in mind my results are just great, you should imitate me and the author :)

This is a great read for anyone wanting to sharpen their meditation skills. It talks about the different avenues where our minds are programmed. It tells us how to renew our minds and become more productive Christians. It teaches us how to conquer our minds, how to hear from God, and how to walk in intimate fellowship with Him. I purchased this book and was so enthused that I bought several more copies for my friends. You won't be disappointed.

This is a very good book for what it is, a defense of the practice of Christian Meditation. The author is well able to make his case biblically, historically and logically that meditating on God's word is more than just thinking about it or mulling it over in your mind. Unfortunately what the author does not do it tell you what Christian Meditation is! He is always defending "it" but never gets to the point of defining how "it" is practiced so it left me wondering what the big deal is. Seems like people are hung up on the term "meditation" because the author never says anything about what it is so as to offend anyone or make any heritical statements. I was disappointed overall. Good argument, bad instruction.

The author expends the first five chapters offering an argument about an issue that is not related to the topic of the book. The remainder of the text has a potential for opening the great Christian Discipline of Meditation to his audience, however; there is little to catch the attention of the reader. The author promises to open the doorway of the Spirit via Christian Meditation. Subsequently meditation becomes an avenue for revelation for what God has to say to this generation. While the verity of the claim is dubious, the author does make the point that critics of new movements are the same people who were criticized in the previous generation for their new revelation. This rebuke is well received and helps keep a freshness of hope alive while exploring the author's basic tenants.
