I was hoping this book would help my daughter understand baptizim from a different view than this book expresses. I thought it would discuss why people get baptized and getting dunked instead of sprinkled.

I got this book for my 10 month old as a gift from her 3 year old brother for her baptism (baptized in nov. 2012). It is great for her little hands and she will come to learn all about the things on each page such as bible and pastor. She will have and enjoy it for a very long time!

The Concordia series, "Things I See..." has been a real winner at our house - We love "Things I See at Christmas", too. Simple text for very young children details what is seen at church. I got this to help explain baptism for preschooler and our new baby. We are Wisconsin Synod Lutheran, so it is pretty consistant with what we see at church (except the pastor's clerical collar). For my child this is very relatable, but I think these books would be ideal for even much younger children who are just getting into books. Of course this one is about baptism, but also how Jesus calls us and teaches us at church. Regarding baptism, besides baby in Christening gown on front, it it shows baptismal font (Jesus Saves Me), parents with infant, sponsors, and pastor at font (Jesus provides for me) and a baby getting baptized into God's family by sprinkling of water on the head (In the name of God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I am baptized!). This would make an excellent christening gift to help little ones understand the importance of their own baptism.

This is an excellent resource produced by a Lutheran publishing company for explaining infant baptism to toddlers. It is one of a series of board books by this author which explain practices of the Lutheran church to its smallest members. I highly recommend it for Lutheran families or for Lutheran churches to provide in busy bags or the like for toddlers and preschoolers during the church service.

Infant Baptism
Date:May 25, 2012
Dr T
Cute - easy to read book that ends with pictures of infant baptism. The description of this book should have clearly stated that infant baptism is illustrated. This would not be an appropriate book for most mainstream protestants but would be an excellent book for catholics and others that practice infant baptism.
