Concordia Publishing House Reading the Psalms with Luther

Study Israel's prayer book through the eyes of the great Reformer. Luther introduces and classifies each psalm; then, emphasizing a Christological perspective, applies the meaning of the text to a life lived under the cross. Throughout, the English Standard Version has been coupled with classic prayers.

I found this to be an excellent book of the psalms. The quality of this book is superb. The commentary before each psalm is very informitory and I learned new things from them that I hadn't known before. The prayers after the psalms are a nice touch, but I wish that the publisher would've waited till the end of each psalm to put the prayer in, as some of the psalms get interrupted, in the middle, where they added a prayer and then went on with the psalm, but other than that it is still a wonderful addition to anyones collection.

Quality product with exceptional Christian value! In a world filled with so called Christian books you offer truely doctrinally sound books at a very great price. I like the fact that churches from different denominations can find books available to them to share with the church. Thank you.

As I do enjoy Luther's writing, I was excited to find a psalter with his commentary and prayers alongside. Upon receipt of the work, I was surprised to discover that the book is a true binding! I figured it would be a cheaply made book, as the price was so low. What delight to find that the work was crafted with some quality and longevity in mind! There are some textual errors, however, which, to some of us, are always a disappointment. But, other than that, I've no other complaints, and am enjoying this fine copy of the Psalms, punctuated with Luther's wonderful prayers.

This edition of the Psalms rates 5 stars for its presentation of the Old Testament prayer book. Luther's brief expository notes before each Psalm and concluding prayer make this book a wonderful help for personal devotions. A true blessing for all.
