Concordia Publishing House How You Are Changing: Boys' Edition

The changes that occur to preteens can be very traumatic. The boys' edition of How You Are Changing? explains that these changes are normal and are a part of God's unfolding plan for their growth and development. In a positive and Christ-centered manner, the third book in the updated and revised "Learning About Sex" series helps parents communicate honestly and accurately with their sons about sex. Using age-appropriate text and pictures, the book enables preteens to recognize gender differences as one of God's great gifts designed as part of His creation plan.

This entire series of books makes opening the *conversation* of human reproduction & the sanctity of sex much easier and more comfortable for parents. This topic is the responsibility of parents to bring up and discuss with their children - not the schools', not the doctor's, and certainly not the culture's or the media's. These books are accurately, but tastefully written, Biblically and culturally relevant, and age appropriate. All that said, I strongly recommend reading through the books before going through them with your children to ensure you're not caught off guard. You may think a certain aspect be brought up soon or later that the books present. Again, you're the parent: you lead the way. These books will help you.

This book is perfectly written for our 10yr old. It's concise, honest, and discusses exactly the questions that he was having. It opened up the conversation with us that I didn't really know how to on our own. Thank you for this series, I'll know just where to go when our daughter gets to be the right age.

This book has just the right amount of information with all the correct usage of terms. It is done so well that before we even finished reading this book together I was already recommending it to other families with sons the same age as mine. I highly recommend this book.

I bought this book for our 12 year old son. After reading through it first, and I thank God I did! I have to say it is FAR TOO MUCH information for 10-12 year olds. However, if a child is exposed to TV,PG-13 and R rated movies then this book is necessary. I also did some research to find out how Christian's who send their children to public school feel about "too much...to soon". I found that parents of 14-15 year olds in public schools don't get as much in depth information as this book offers. I was expecting information about "How 10-12 year old boys are changing" like change in voice, hair, attracted to the opposite sex but this book describes how adults making love will "go off by themselves", "kiss and touch each other all over" etc... This is more information than most public school students get at 10-12 years old.The author promotes "too little to late" and this may be so for exposed children but certinally not for children who are less exposed. Lets let our children be children and give them this book when their 15. I returned mine.

I purchased this book for my 11 year old son. The material is accurate and carefully presented. Some books have too much information, but this book is just right for pre-teen boys. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
