Although the biblical references were on point and the scriptural study very to the core, I would never give this as a gift of comfort to any mother who either lost their baby to SIDS, an accident, or miscarriage (etc.) I know that it was out of good intention that a young woman gave me this book the day i left the hospital due to my infant son dying from SIDS but i must say that the stories in this book only depressed me and even my family told me to no longer read this book because hearing of how some mothers committed suicide after the loss of their child only fans the flame to the yearning of being with your child in heaven. I truly preferred 'I'll hold you in heaven' as it gave woman to woman hope and insight that this book did not touch on. Sometimes only another momma and woman can understand the pain and heart ache of losin a little one. Although the pastor that wrote this is a great man, I cannot enforce this book as a great tool for mothers to get through their grief with.

I have suffered 4 miscarriages and no other book has come close to giving such biblical comfort as this book. John takes you through scriptures, gives you real answers over the loss of your child and what the Bible says. It has been a tremendous encouragement to me and I would recommend it highly.

This book was given to me after I lost my 3rd child in utero. While at times I found it difficult to read, due to my own emotional struggles, I found it to be the tool in which God used to give me peace in my child's passing. I would recommend this book to anyone experiencing the grief of losing a child, and to those who may be comforting someone who is dealing with this issue.

Ever since I heard John MacArthur give a two part teaching on this subject, I felt like I should get the book to have on hand when someone I know needed the comfort this book can give. This book goes beyong the usual comforting thoughts to deal with deep questions that may trouble parents whose child dies. John MacArthur's strong conviction that the child goes to heaven based on solid theology would be very reassuring to Christian parents.

After the death of our 3 year old son this summer, we had many questions. This book by John MacArthur didn't answer all the ?'s, but it did give us comfort and many biblical truths to hold to concerning our child. I have reread this book 3x's in the past two months, it keeps filling gaps each time I read it.

With incredible compassion and a strong biblical foundation, John MacArthur speaks to the hearts of grieving parents and those who grieve with them. God has the answers to the questions and the deep hurt that follows the death of an infant, a pre-born child, or a young child, and those who never develop beyond the capacity of a child. We are saved by grace. And so it is with the child who dies. A grace we may not fully understand, but John very capably attempts to explain it, and then he gives us still more as he speaks to our own lives and God's provision and direction for the journey of grief.

This is an excellent book explaining how we can know for sure, from Scripture, that our little ones are with the Lord. It is very comforting and an excellent resource for Christian and non-Christian parents alike. There is a wonderful Gospel presentation within the book in the context of whether or not a parent will see his or her child in heaven. We have lost five little ones before birth at various stages of development, and I can say that this book is the best I have read on this subject. It is not hard to read, but be sure to have your Kleenex ready, as the testimonies shared are very moving. I have recommended and given this book to many parents based on the tremendous help it was to our family. Thanks to John MacArthur for his thorough yet caring discussion of this difficult topic.

With warmth and compassion and a strong biblical basis, John MacArthur answers the questions that can disturb, and even haunt, the heart of a parent who has lost a baby through miscarriage, neonatal death, in the early months of life, or a very young child, or even abortion. It is a book that will comfort and move a parent forward in their journey of grief -- not with pat answers, but with answers that come from the heart of God. I have read it in my own need and I have given it to others.

The question that every discerning reader must ask himself is this: "Is faith essential for salvation?" In this book, John MacArthur postulates a means of salvation apart from faith. The person writing this review believes that the cornerstone of all Christian theology is that justification comes only by faith alone, and that a biblical theology concerning what happens to dead babies begins with this uncompromising premise. In the Evangelicals and Catholics Together controversy, John MacArthur defended the doctrine of Justification by Faith Alone. He would have done well to apply the same rigor in this book.

A strong biblical defense on the salvation of the child who dies at an early age. Macarthur is never accused of being overly sympathetic, and so this is more of a biblical work for the pastor or counselor rather than a comforting book for the family.

This is a reassuring book for anyone who has lost a child. Bible passages show my child is not lost, but in the Arms of God in Paradise. A true relief.
