This is an excellent resource book for serious students of the Bible. It explains the meaning of what is being said; what is taking place at the time the particular passage was written, etc.

This commentary gives enough technical/theological information to help a lay teacher understand passages. "Gray" areas of theology are not debated. When teaching, if you prefer an educated, systematic and complete understanding of the scriptures without losing the meaning in all of the questions, this is the commentary for you.

I have been searching for what is/are the best one volume commentaries in the market and I finally found them already. The first one is Baker commentary on the Bible edited by Elwell. The second one is this very book. Highly recommend and you will never be disappointed.

This book has been an extremely helpful resource in my studies. I am a third year theological seminary student and this book has certainly helped me with my courses. I would highly recommend this book to anyone searching for one book that encompasses so many great scholars, and such a wealth of great Biblical resource information.

I've only been reading this for a couple of weeks, but what I have read has clarified details about so many suspicions, putting more and more doubts to rest. I'm also reading "The Creators" by Daniel Boorstin, and the information has dovetailed almost daily with information in the "Commentary" echoing or supporting information in "The Creators." It's a delightful co-read. Both writers have done their research.
