An arranged betrothal was never the course Anne MacGregor imagined her life would take. Yet when her father explains that her cooperation is the only way to bring about the long-sought truce between the MacGregors and the Campbells, Anne has no other choice. A simple ceremony pledging Anne's hand in marriage after one year of commitment [called handfasting] is the only seal to the promise of peace. But when the arrangement requires the reluctant Anne to follow Niall Campbell back to his home, she soon discovers that peace is not so easily achieved. Before they even arrive, rumors about her being a witch abound, and her safety is threatened. Meanwhile, Niall's ascension as leader of his clan is in jeopardy, as a traitor works to bring about his downfall. As Niall and Anne begin to see beyond each other's defenses, love takes them by surprise. But will it be enough to defeat their foes? Or will the truce be broken, their lives forfeit, and war return to their beloved land?
[This series is one of the most memorable for me. I don't know why that is. Maybe because I feel there are stories still left untold. I hope the author writes more about Anne, Niall, Iain, and the others in the future. The characters in this book feel pretty real. At times, I just want to smack some sense into them(that's why I gave it four stars). I felt relieved when they would finally come to an understanding. Mostly I was dying to figure out who the traitor was. This book has got enough action and peril so it doesn't feel like it's just dragging along, at least for me anyways.]

This book creates all kinds of emotions in the reader. I loved the main characters and I hated them. You just sit there telling them what to do, how stupid they are, to just hoping they hurry up and open their eyes as to what is happening. Lots of action. Loved it.

Not sure what I expected from this book, but it didn't even deliver that. Mediocre writing and plot. Cardboard characters. Not recommended.

I loved reading this book. It was engaging right from the start. The dialogue is fresh and interesting. I love stories with strong characters and Kathleen Morgan had done a great job in creating strong and interesting characters. I can not wait to get my hands on the sequel.

The book "Child of the Mist" is an engaging piece of literature that keeps the reader interested throughout the story. I especially enjoyed the way the story was presented without violating any Biblical standards. Excellent story!

I really enjoy Kathleen Morgan's books. I did purchase the other two books in this series, and enjoyed them just as much.
