Vision Video C.S. Lewis Through the Shadowlands, DVD

Author and theologian C.S. Lewis was no stranger to pain. This original heartwarming account of his marriage to Joy Davidman gives you insight into how Lewis moved forward in faith out of the dark shadowlands following his beloved wife's death. Starring Joss Ackland and Claire Bloom. C.S. Lewis Through the Shadowlands includes both, a 90-minute television version and 73-minute abridged version.

Apparently this was a PBS broadcast and the dvd did not come out good, therefore, I would not recommend this version to anyone. C. S. Lewis' story is a very heart-warming story and the movie Shadowlands with Anthony Hopkins was excellent. I'm sorry this one wasn't as good, quality-wise.

At the CS Lewis Institute in the Wash DC area in a presentation on CS Lewis his stepson Douglas Grisham said that Joss Ackland gave an accurate portrayal of Lewis.
He went on to say that Debra Winger in the Hollywood version of Shadowlands gave the best portayal of his mother[she recieved an Academy Award nomination for her work]. I have both versions of the Shadowlands and think this one is the best.

This movie was a tear jerker. For those who have questioned their faith and what they really believe, in the midst of difficult times. This movie gives you an incite to the fraility of men and the strength they can come to receive from God our Father.

You will also learn the beautiful and yet tragic end to a beautiful love between this two very different people.. its true it great it is how God can work in a person's life. you will be blessed by C.S.Lewis' life.

Beautifully done. A sensitive portrayal of the later years of C. S. Lewis. Highly recommended for family as well as individual viewing. JC

I love C.S.Lewis, and in order to fully comprehend him one needs to learn about C.S. Lewis the man. This is a poignant story, I enjoyed Joss Ackland's portrayal of C.S. Lewis and Claire Bloom's portrayal of Joy Gresham. Again, this is a 5 star movie and if someone wants to "know" C.S. Lewis this is the place to start.

A story of a man who never loved, and a woman who connected with him on the intellectual level he needed to draw that love from him. The question asked in the movie...considering the outcome, is it worth it? To love much is to suffer much. That is exactly what Jesus came to earth to do.

A story of an intellectuals limitations of love, and how he was set free from the one fear he had...both to love and to lose love. Highly recommended!
