Vision Video Solomon's Temple, DVD

An extraordinary journey through the temple promised to David, fulfilled in Solomon. The place where it was built n ancient times was considered the center of the world. In many ways it has continued to be a center of history. Today it continues as a center of great reverence as well as great conflict. An understanding of the Temple in Jewish life and history is essential not only to understanding the Bible but also history and current events in Jerusalem today. This program gives a basic introduction to the colossal achievement of Solomon's Temple and details its design, construction, meaning for Israel, and what went on there and why. Solomon's Temple was destroyed in 586 B.C., but through the use of modern computer graphics, the Temple is reconstructed visually to provide a contemporary experience of its ritual, beauty and grandeur. In color with an approximate running time of 30 minutes.

Was very disappointed with video. I had hoped it would be a good video to show to jr.high/high school Sunday School class after study of Solomon's Temple in Bible. Very poor animation. The video does not do what the description given claims. No explanation of meaning of anything in temple. Really poor animated figures of Solomon talking to his son using Bible quotes of his, but no explanation of why he built the temple or any details on design of temple.

The video is very poor even to the point of not being visible. The audio, to me, was not educational. Had the video been of a much better quality, the audio might could be overlooked. One could use another source of reference. A waste of time and money.

Unfortunately this video did not meet expectations. It doesn't provide the described "understanding of the Temple in Jewish life and history is essential not only to understanding the Bible but also history and current events in Jerusalem today".It also doesn't "detail its design, construction, meaning for Israel, and what went on there and why" with any depth. It begins with a poorly done animation of Solomon sharing the story of the temple project with his son Reheboam. Best suited for young children.

Honestly, the graphics were lacking and the story is childlike. I would not recommend this for an adult study.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 3. With today's technology, a virtual walk through should be eye-poping. This was not. Although it is better than nothing.

Approx. 30 minutes but well worth it! The computer renderings are excellent! If you want to see what it was like back then buy this along with "The Tabernacle", and "Jesus:The Complete Story ISBN:0-7907-9985-5 this one is truly the best one and is approx 150 minutes".

The graphics on this production are quite good. I was disappointed with the commentary in the video. Rather than a part by-part review of the Temple, the video is a fictional dialogue between an aged Solomon and his son Rehoboam. The articles of the Temple (altar, sea, movable basins, lampstands, etc.) are all shown, but very little is said about the articles at all. In fact, there is usually no correlation between what is being shown and the words Solomon speaks to Rehoboam. The video is worth seeing, but I will have to mute the sound and supplement the video with my own information when I present it to the church.
