This is one of the best books I have ever read to not only give deep insight to the life of David but help me see that the beauty and strength of our Lord is with us no matter what we go through. I higly recommend it for everyone. You couldn't find a better study on the life of David or find help and wisdom of your own.

Eugene Peterson is that rare blend of Scholar and Pastor; in reading this book one is struck by his ability to put the gospel into terms that can actually be lived out. He has no time for a hypocritical esoteric spirituality. For our spirituality is "fleshed" out in the most real sense in the midst of the "everyday". It is in such acts as changing a child's diaper that we practice spirituality...in essence this is Peterson's message (no pun intended).

I was required to read this book for a class on the life of David. I picked it up and could not put it down. It was fresh and very readable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to dig a bit deeper into the life of David.

It gives good insights into the life of David and goes beyond the usual to draw out important details that helped me to understand some important passages in David's life.
