Zondervan Faith Alone: A Daily Devotional

Powerful excepts from the writings of one of the giants of the faith. It has been almost 500 years since Martin Luther wrote his famous ninety-five theses and nailed them to the door of the Castle Church in Germany. His challenge to the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church ignited the Protestant Reformation and shaped the evangelical tradition of the modern church. As he anguished in his quest for truth, Luther came to understand that salvation is a radically free gift that must be accepted by "faith alone." Freshly translated from the original German into today's language, this book contains a treasury of daily devotionals taken from some of Luther's best writings and sermons that reveal both the fervency of his beliefs and his profound theological insights.

This Devotional is well written and easy to understand. I think it would be good for anyone who is interested in reading about the word of God early in the morning or before retiring. This is not meant to replace Bible reading but will definitely enhance one's understanding of God's Word.

At breakfast each morning my wife and I we've enjoyed Luther's pastoral style of writing, and the applicability of the teachings to today, even though these things were written 500 years ago. The abundant grace of God overcomes the deep depravity of human nature on every page. As a seminary professor, I give a copy of this book to every student when they graduate. This is a timeless gem!

The best devotional I have read so far. It begins where every Christian thought should begin, with Faith in Christ. From beginning to end our salvation is a work of God done for us and in us through the person and works of Christ apart from any works we can muster up. It is something we need to remember every day, and this devotional does just that. Excellent !!!
