Great resource - Don't hesitate buying!
Date:October 21, 2010
As a long term homeschooler who has bought lots of things I never used, I hesitated buying this without being able to look at it first (not cheap). It is worth every penny. I'm using it as a primary resource for middle schoolers - it's very engaging for all ages. High schoolers would zip through it and find it interesting, but yet it's not too hard for elementary kids. The pictures are great and there are a lot of comments throughout the book which lead kids to think about how their own lives are the same/different. I like how it is organized by region and then there's a concentration on a few representative countries so you really get a feel for the area without being overwhelmed by minute details. I think it really brings Africa "alive." It's got history and current info. The book list is awesome! I'd skip the worksheets though.

My daughter loves this book! She is learning so much about Africa and having fun at the same time! We are using it with the student pages. I haven't seen any other resource/text book that even comes close to it.

This was SO much fun! My son and I enjoyed this more than anything else we have done this year. The book has beautiful pictures, great stories, and tons of information. There are lots of extra activities and recipes. We had a terrific time making Nok sculptures and batiking. My son(11) has such a heart for Africa now!
