HarperOne The Way of the Heart

This modern classic interweaves the solitude, silence, and prayer of the fourth and fifth-century Egyptian Desert Fathers and Mothers with our contemporary search for an authentic spirituality. Applicable for all Christians, The Way of the Heart is especially beneficial to pastors and those immersed in ministry.

We used "The Way of the Heart' to work on spiritual formation during Lent. I was surprised by the positive response we had.

My pastor told me this is a "must read" and he was right. Most of us who have been in ministry of any kind for awhile have built up some baggage and need to get back to a foundation of just being alone with Jesus without words and distraction. This book does as good a job as any I've seen at blowing away the fluff that distracts from the "one thing" that's necessary.

This is a must read for any pastor or layperson who wants to pursue an authentic, life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ that impacts your world. It's short sweet and to the point. I find myself reading it year after year.
