Abingdon Press Healing Spiritual Amnesia: Remembering What It Means to Be the Church

Why do churches stagnate, decline, and die? Nixon says it's because they forget who they are---the body of Christ. Challenging congregations to move beyond their comfort zone, he reminds believers of who Jesus is and to practice spiritual disciplines, serve their neighbors, and effectively carry out the Great Commission. 142 pages, softcover from Abingdon.

Great read. Mr. Nixon was recently a consultant for our growing church. His thoughts/principles on church growth are Biblical, consistent, right on for today's church culture and practically applied. He's a tremendous asset to bolstering U.S.church growth. The book provokes even more more outreach ideas!

Paul Nixon has correctly diagnosed a condition afflicting too many mainline churches - what he calls 'spiritual amnesia'. Church leaders lay and clergy alike will find a creative and engaging mix of imaginative fiction, real life examples, and strong dose of practical guidance honed by both pastoral ministry and church consulting. This is not your run of the mill church growth book, but a thorough reminder of the basics of what it means to be the church and how spiritual amnesia can be cured. Great 6 page forward by Tony Campolo too.
