Why do we need a new daily devotional? Most of us need help to focus our attention. There are so many things that vie for our attention and we juggle so many that, sometimes, we lose sight of what really is important. So we need this devotional to help calm and center us. We sometimes miss God speaking to us because we dismiss the circumstance as merely coincidence. These true stories— from ordinary people—provide: Messages of “don’t give up”, Heartfelt need for love and guidance, Hope in the midst of medical crises, “Just in time” moments, Peace in times of sorrow, Tender love stories and Amazing answers to prayer. “Godwink Stories” is not a time-consuming read. You are geared to find something to inspire you at just the right moment or perhaps encourage and share a story with others in need. This is truly a gift that you can give at anytime of the year and would make the perfect Christmas gift. I received Godwink Stories: A Devotional by Squire Rushnell and Louise Duart compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster Publishers for my honest review.
If you love books like Chicken Soup for the Soul but geared for more faith based and inspirational readers, than this is the perfect book for you. I chose to read mine like a great dessert, a little bit at a time each night and there is truly something geared to make you smile, sigh and even reflect on your life or the life of someone you know. I personally rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars. The one story that really hit home for me this week in particular was called "Can I Trust God to Look Out for Me?" It talks about how so many times it feels as if everything is going wrong and often times we wonder where is God in all of this. The scripture reference was 1 Peter 5:8 " Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Too often times we look to God for the blame when it's the enemy we should be pointing our finger at. It reminds us through three separate letters of others in the same circumstance as you, that if you've gotten into the habit of fortifying your daily life with prayer, you'll find yourself better prepared for an emergency when it comes.

I laughed and cried through this heartfelt devotional. I was moved, inspired and encouraged by the stories.
The stories are basically letters from people like you and I who had, what I refer to as a God moment. Godwinks are moments where God shows up miraculously in someone's life.
The various chapters in this devotional are filled with stories which will leave you spiritually encouraged, invigorated and refreshed.
I highly recommend this book and believe this devotional will be an encouragement to many.
In conclusion, I want to thank Howard Books for sending me a complimentary copy of this book to review.

Then he came up with Godwink Link, the person who delivers the godwink – the one who makes the phone call at the right time with the right message, or otherwise “happens” to intersect another's life.
People have written Squire heartfelt letters in response to his previous godwink books. They show the person-to-person connections from God happening to each of us. Many of those letters have been included in this book.
Squire and Louise have found that every hurt and worry you encounter has been addressed in the Bible. They have paralleled the letters received with the wisdom from God's Word. They also add insight from their own lives as well as the appropriate Scripture verses.
The book is designed so that it can be read cover to cover (as I did), or read a chapter a week for fifty-two weeks. You can also just read the chapter that fits your need as a cross references is included at the back of the book.

Some of the stories include humor, such as Bonnie seeing a church marquee saying “This too shall pass,” when her son was in emergency with kidney stones.

“Every day, God showers you with an abundance of gifts. … Only when you condition yourself to accept God's gifts and to thank Him for them accordingly...will you begin to see the massive evidence of God's love for you.” (153)
Each of the stories emphasize how an extraordinary God uses people like you and me to touch the lives of others. These stories are full of encouragement. They also inspire you to be a blessing to others.
