I was looking for a science curriculum that I could use with both of my children (grades 4th and 7th) at the same time each day to help free up some of our busy homeschooling schedule. I can not say enough about how much they have enjoyed this book, the experiments are very "do-able" not requiring a lot of money or things you have never heard of, or are able to find. They love making the books and the "hands on" approach is excellent for both the gifted child and the child that has to work a little bit harder to grasp things. They make it very easy to adjust the course to suit varying ages. It is nice to have a science course that gets excitement from my children each day instead of groans! I am looking forward to using all of the books in this series and so are my children!

I needed a multilevel approach to science this book fits the bill. The activities include lap book elements to make creating an interactive learning record easy. However, we loved it for the mini books that create a simple lesson review. We completed almost every investigative experiment with much enthusiasm. My students are first through seventh graders.

As a busy teacher I appreciate that they assume I have a basic knowledge of the subject. I don't have to wade through paragraphs of information to summarize it. Instead there are easy to read bullet points. After gathering necessary supplies, I simply do a quick review of concepts and begin teaching within 10 minutes.

This Great Science Adventures book is the second that I have completed with my elementary-age children. These topical books are sophisticated for elementary students, yet make their material accessible even to young children, with mini-books and different well-described, easy constructs (sequencing, diagrams, foldables). This author really understands how to make children understand and enjoy science. The experiments are quick and to the point and usually require nothing beyond regular household items.

I have been using the botany book from this series. I have been so impressed with the level of content that even I have been learning from it! If you are looking for a very hands on science curriculum, this is a great series. It does require a lot of prep work and copying....it is not extremely easy to use but it is multi level and has wonderful content. Hands on approach and great content! I don't think your kids will get bored with this. It is not anything like a normal science textbook.

Although difficult to reproduce, the hands on aspect is wonderful for hands on learning.
