When I first read the excerpt from this book I was excited about buying a book that could be used in a our Wednesday Night bible study for our new converted Christians. It failed to provide vital information about being a true Christian. This goes beyond "Believing!" There is some good information in this book however, if one would want to know about being a true Christiaon addition information should be expressed. Just Believing will not get you there. (even Satan believed). One must hear the word, believe it, repent- change their ways, confess their sins, and be baptize -washed of sins, and be reborned made into a new creature.

This classic is great for new or long-time believers! Completing each lesson in its entirety and memorizing each corresponding Scripture will ground the new Christian and certainly further solidify the more mature Christian. I was 25 yrs. old the first time I went through Growing in Christ (2 volume book) and I still have instant recall of the Scripture memorized. My only regret is that someone did not introduce me to this study when I was 10 years old. I keep a dozen copies on hand at all times -- have led others through this study for the past 26 years!
The book is a legacy of the life of Dawson Trotman, founder of The Navigators, who wanted to teach the discipleship principles he learned to others, echoing the call of 2 Timothy 2:2: "And the things you have heard Me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others."

I have been leading a ladies group for a couple of years. This book has them excited about the discussion. It is also helping them to search the scriptures on their own throughout the week. My women are elderly and scripture memory is tough but they carry the memory cards that the book provides and meditate on the scripture throughout the week. We are only half way through the book and I am already seeing spiritual growth. :)

These books are great for new christians. We use them in our church for our new members class. I bought these books and the Ryrie Study Bible for a young lady who was in my home introducing me to an item she was selling. At the time she came, my friend and I was studying the Sunday School lesson and we got into a conversation about the bible and Church. She use to go to church but not anymore. Use to have a Bible but don't know what happened to it but yet she says she is spiritual. She is way off track in her belief about Christianity and salvation. After talking to her about salvation, and studying the Bible to know for herself that what I am saying is true, she said, "you know what, I am going to buy me a bible because I have been inspired by talking to you". I said, "you know what, I am going to buy you a bible. That will be our gift from us to you." She was so happy.I purchased the NAS bible verson so it would be easy for her to understand. And I thought for her to really learn how to use the bible she needed some guidlines to go by, becaues just to pick up the bible and starting reading may not be helpful. That' swhy I purchase the Navigators study guides on Lessons on Assurance and Christian Living. I will not be able to be with her to help with her studies and I know with these book a person study alone pertty good. I suggested to her that she find her a good Bible teaching church in her area and get involved with it so she can grow in Christ. I told her If she had any questions, she could always reach me by phone and I would help her. I love these books and I would recommend them to any new Christian and even longtime chrisians to check upon themselves.Hilder M. Madison

This is a great study tool. We are using it in our Women's Home Group and I am really glad we chose it. The basic precepts of learning straight from scripture without a lot of filler is straight on. The memorization cards at the back of the book in all the different translations is great. I think we may be using more Navigators materials in the future. I really recommend this book to know the truth of what God says to each one of us. The Truth Will Set You Free!
