NavPress Transforming Grace: Living Confidently in God s Unfailing Love - eBook

Funny how the riches of God's grace seem to run out the moment we're saved! From then on, we tend to base our relationship with him on our accomplishments rather than on his unconditional acceptance. In "Transforming Grace" Bridges addresses the "performance treadmill" and what can happen when we forget how generous God's grace is. Come back to the love that's waiting for you, and learn to trust His grace every day.

I had given my copy of "Transforming Grace" to a friend. I love the book and decided it should be a part of my library; so I purchased another copy. It is a beautifully written discussion of God's sovereignty. It reminds me again and again of God's love and mercy.

Transforming Grace by Jerry Bridges is yet another bestseller for NavPress and truly the best yet for the best-selling author and well-known speaker. Bridges definitely has a gift of choosing difficult themes and transcribing them into understandable books that every pastor, teacher and layperson should read.Transforming Grace will show you the correct way to view grace and how to better understand what the Bible is talking about when teaching about it. Even though we know better, we still manage to make our relationship with God a works-based relationship. We may say we believe otherwise, but our actions prove us wrong. In this book, Bridges shows where we go wrong, how to act properly and why it is so important to accept the grace God offers. It is important to understand that Gods grace is His gift to us no matter what. We cannot earn it and we certainly dont deserve it. It is ours because we are His. We dont have to beg for it. We cant steal it from someone else. And it is not for sale. Only God can give it to you and you cant give it away. There is a Discussion Guide available making this book perfect for small groups and Sunday School classes. We can live confidently in Gods unfailing love and Bridges has outlined the method in his book. I have just read this amazing, impacting book for the third time....it reinforces the meaning of grace that goes far beyond the common definition: God's unmerited favor. I have often pondered the verse, "Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord...." and what it really means to live this verse. Well, when I picked up Transforming Grace, I received my answer. To understand all the ramifications of God's magnificent Grace, is to be h-u-m-b-l-e-d. To appropriateGrace, is to remember that I am that worm who's become the dwelling place of the Almighty.

As Christians, we are constantly using the word 'grace' in our language without really understanding the depths of the riches of this great and wonderful kindness from the heart of God. Jerry Bridges defines grace in such a way as to set Christians at true liberty; the kind of freedom Christ was talking about when He said, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free". His understanding deals with the justification of God to the end result of our glorification, and the sanctifcation in between! We seem to have no problem with the beginning and the end, but we think we have a part in our sanctification that we must do something and Jerry Bridges explains God's amazing, transforming grace in such a way that the reader will be praisng God for this wonderful knowledge. A must read for new converts especially, and old alike. Very refreshing and powerfully converting!!

Being a "Christian" is not easy. There is a code of ethics to live by. Our "model" is Jesus Christ. I feel I am not doing a good enough job. I feel I am letting God and my family down. Even knowing salvation is by Grace. So, I read the book "Transforming Grace" by Jerry Bridges. A light bulb turns on after being off for a long time. It's all about grace. I'm saved by Grace. I stand by Grace. I walk the christian walk by Grace. With this view of Grace and my standing with God, I am free and enabled to walk the christian walk. God is so good. Thanks for the wonderful reminder. There are many Bible verses referenced. I now have many verses I want to memorize.
