Sproul begins with the idea that God has one will with three different elements to that will. The book presents decretive, preceptive, and dispositional elements to his will. He goes through each will and what it means along with an example for each. The author explains that decretive will can not be disobeyed and goes along with his sovereign power. Preceptive element of will can be disobeyed, but it is what he wants us to do with our lives. He uses the example of the Laws and commandments. The final element is dispositional portion of his will. This element God's position on a matter and what he wants. He wants all people to know Him, but he must punish sin. The will of God is weaved in and out of many doctrines of the church. He goes one by one explaining how God works in each one of those doctrines. He even faces the free will/predestination question head on with Scripture. The practical question that he answers through his book is whether or not we are in God's will when it comes to our jobs. I do not want to ruin the book by summarizing it, but it personally gave me a great comfort that I am where God has placed me. I would recommend this to all Christians with an emphasis on people in their midlife crisis and teens figuring what they are going to do with there life. I would not recommend this to a person who is new in the Lord due to the fact that the first two chapters in this book may be difficult to understand.
