Evergreen Press The Christmas Letter

Viola Martin was a letter carrier who had pressed through snow and sleet, rain and scorching heat to deliver what was, to her, precious mail. She had seen much in her 50 years as a postal worker and shared in both the triumphs and tragedies of those on her mail route. As the touching story unfolds, Viola enters an unexpected friendship with Jimmy, her inquisitive and compassionate grandson whose family recently moved back into town. Viola thinks her useful days are over, but she doesn't count on Jimmy's regular visits which challenge her to reach out beyond herself. When one of Jimmy's schoolmates loses her home to a devastating fire, Viola's anonymous act of generosity saves his friend's Christmas and convinces Jimmy that she is indeed his hero.

This is a wonderful, sensitive, heart-warming book for the holidays! A grat gift for adults and young adults. After reading The Christmas Letter, it filled me with a yearning to sit down with my own grandmother and ask her to tell me about her life. I wish I could have known her better. Thanks to Kevin Prochaska for such a satisfying read!

A wonderful, well written book that fills you with the wonder and magic of the Christmases of your youth. If you still have eldery grandparents or parents in your life, give them this book for Christmas, then sit down and listen to their stories...they are the only ones who can tell them.

Thank you for writing this book, Kevin! I have the honor of teaching the children of the author and the beauty of the book reflects me to look at my life as a person, mother, wife and teacher. The relationship with Kevin and his family brings out the quality of writing in this book. I have given many of these books to family and friends as gifts and look forward to the next book. A must read.

If ever there was a book that forced you to reflect on your own life this is it. The book is extremely well written and you picture yourself along side of each character. The Christmas Letter teaches you to appreciate the love of God, your family, friends and the fact that we "woke up this morning". It's a reminder to not be so caught up in the things of this world but to focus on the things that truly matter. I absolutely loved this book and will be giving them as gifts to my friends and loved ones. I can't wait til the next book comes out!
