In this book a deacon speaks from experience. In his lifetime, Harold Nichols was a deacon of 40 years experience and conducted numerous training sessions for deacons in churches of the Philadelphia Baptist Associations. This book outlines his work as he saw it. It covers the origin of the deacon, requisites and qualifications, organization, ordinances, worship, watchcare, the unchurched, training, relationships, finances, and the role of the deaconess.

Excellent book, written by someone with experience in the office of the deacon. Insightful and extremely helpful for those seeking to serve in this office or for organizing a Board of Deacons. And let's not forget the Deaconess, who is just as essential to the mission of the Church.
