Abingdon Press The Glory of Green, Green Series #3

Wedding plans are underway, and Lois Barker is figuring out how gracefully to get rid of her groom's catfish collection - stuffed, ceramic, woven. her husband-to-be Chris, on the other hand, has decided to get rid of something else--his homestead, which he is giving to a needy Mexican family at church. Life is full of possibilities...and the community of Green is tickled pink that their newspaper owner is settling down with one of their own.

Lois finally has her life - personal and at The Green News-Item under control. She is getting married to a wonderful man, Chris, and despite his odd collection in catfish items which come in every material known to man, she is touched when he gives his home away to a needy Mexican family. Things are coming together so nicely, she's even starting to get along with the puppy that Eva, the town mayor, gave her as an early wedding gift.
But it wouldn't be Green if the wedding came and went without a hitch. A major tornado strikes right after the vows are said between Lois and Chris; whipping the town like a smoothie and randomly destroying the homes in it's path. Many are left without homes, and the ones with anything left try to help those in need. With Chris having just given his home away, and Lois still trying to get back to her little place on Route 2, will the newlyweds have anything left? Or are they now one of the many homeless people in the town of Green Louisiana?
So many times an author will try to depict a disaster, or dire crisis and it can fall flat. But somehow Christie manages to make the most unbelievable fate fall upon her characters and it is so realistic and genuine you actually believe a series of unfortunate events can fall upon this one girl we love so much. The Green Series has done nothing but entertain and humor me from it's first words - give Green a chance and you too can taste from it's wonders.

This is the best book of the series so far. While the first two books read very sweet with minimal action, this book had two big wow factors right up front. I have to say it was a very pleasant surprise.
I loved the fact that Lois and Chris faced a whole range of challenges during their first year as husband and wife. I have to admit though my favorite was what they were going to do with Chris' catfish collection.
We got more back ground on several characters and we got to meet Lois family. It was good to see Lois faith growing and Chris helping her with that spiritual growth. Great book. I loved it.

Lois and Chris get married, and before they can even get to their reception, a tornado hits the town and blows away lives, homes--and the Craigs' honeymoon. Lois races to the paper in her wedding gown, thankful that the building is still there even though her house is not. This is a hard year for Lois in Green, but with grace and friends and a very supportive new husband, she survives and even thrives. This and #4 in the series are the best ones so far, though all 5 titles are worth the time and money!

This is the 3rd book in the Green series by Judy Christie. This series continues to be fun and enjoyable to read. Christie has a great way of keeping you on the edge of your seat always rooting for things to work out in my now beloved town of Green, Louisiana. I don't want to spoil the surprises that are in store with this book, so I will just say, sit back and enjoy The Glory of Green.

Lois and Chris have their wedding reception at the church interrupted by a tornado. With the town torn apart by the tornado, Green struggles to rebuild and Lois & Chris try to decide what to do about their house that blew away. The newspaper works hard to give the best coverage on the storm & recovery as Lois & Chris forgo their honeymoon and stay in Green to aid in the recovery process. This book showed a community come together in the midst of tragedy.

I give each book and the whole series a hearty 5 stars.
The Green series by Judy Christie follows the story of Lois, owner of the Green newspaper, but is filled with plenty of other well developed characters who each have their own plot-lines. These books keep the reader hoping. They are fast paced but thoroughly entertaining.
The Glory of Green, book 3 in the Green Series, finds Lois planning her wedding. Things seem to be going well. Her fiance, Chris, has even given his homestead away to a needy Mexican family. Lois' biggest stress seems to be whether she can convince her husband to get rid of his home decor and nick-knacks, which revolve completely around catfish.
Of course things don't stay calm around Lois for long--but even she couldn't have predicted the twister that invites itself to her wedding. With the town in shambles, her home destroyed, and a friend to mourn, Lois and Chris spend their honeymoon picking up the pieces and wondering if this catastrophe will be the end of their beloved Green.

Review: The Glory of Green - Book #3 The Green Series - Judy Pace Christie - March 2011
It seems that Lois may just be getting her happy ending , as Book #2 left off with Lois's friends catching the wedding bug and Lois still on the lookout for Mr Right. It seems that newcomer Chris Craig has caught the lovebug for Lois as they enter into a three month whirlwind engagement. As the date nears though, Lois is getting cold feet -not about the marriage but the division of her assets - what to keep , where to live ? Is Lois ready to take the plunge into married life ?
It seems so, as Lois and Chris make their way to the altar but just as they are saying their I Do's -tragedy once again strikes the town of Green in the form of a nasty storm.
With the aftermath of the storm, it's discovered that Lois has lost everything she owned as while she was saying I Do in the chapel , the storm ripped away her house.
Lois using the coping mechanism she knows best, heads to the local newspaper office and starts preparing for a special edition. It seems though, that even after all that has happened Lois can't escape from her past as old friends and enemies come back into her life. One of them in the form of offering Lois , a big newspaper job. Is it time to move on and away from Green after all the trouble or will Lois realise that Green is now where her heart is and that you can't no matter what beat "The Glory of Green".
Find out all this and more , and be prepared to break out a box of tissues as The Glory of Green holds some weeping moments.

Once again, Christie draws her readers in to the town, the life, the humor, and the drama in Green. I felt like I was visiting old friends in my hometown. Warm, funny, and nostalgic, The Glory of Green is a wonderful narrative of small town America, pulling together in tragedy. A great read! Novel Journey and I give it a high recommendation.

Lois and Chris are looking forward to the rest of their lives. A beautiful wedding with loved ones and close friends at Grace Community. Everything is perfect just like they have dreamed about, but when tragedy strikes everyone has to pull together like never before. The ITEM has to bring the town the news and Lois is pulled in all directions. But even in the wake of disaster love grows stronger and hope can be found in this quaint town of Green. I found myself drawn to this story and could relate to the characters just like they were old friends, their lives became mine and I found myself not wanting this story to end. An excellent 3rd novel in the series but however it stands on its own as a single novel. A very enjoyable read indeed! Thanks to Abingdon Press for providing this ARC copy for me for my review.
