HarperOne Evidence Not Seen: A Woman's Miraculous Faith in the Jungles of World War II

Newlywed American misionary Darlene Deibler Rose survived four years in a notorious Japanese prison camp set deep in the jungles of New Guinea. Thinking she was never to see her husband again, Darelene was forced to sign a false confession and face the executioner's sword, only to be miraculously spared in this true story of one woman's survival against the odds.

I just finished Evidence Not Seen by Darlene Rose, and it was the most life changing book I've ever read. Every bit as beautiful and amazing as The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. After you read Darlene's story, you will know that there is not a single thing you could go through that our incredible God cannot bring you through in victory.

"Evidence Not Seen" is one of the best books I have ever read. How one person can endure such treatment and stay true to her convictions is such a testimony of Gods grace . I give this book to all my friends.

This is a must read!! Rose is such an example for us all. She had only the Lord to help her through her days in an concentration camp...and God even supplied the bananas!! What a God we serve.

As veteran missionaries serving in Central America, Evidence Not Seen, has challenged our faith in a very defining time of our ministry. You will find yourself absorbed by such a remarkably candid, transparent, and profound personal testimony that still resonates today. May many hear the call of God and present themselves as servants in His Kingdom through the reading of this gripping story!

Honestly, it took me a little while to really get into this book. To begin with it was a little slow, only because you have to get the history of the individuals to appreciate the book. Once I got past the 1st & 2nd chapters, I really got into the book. I loved it! It is such an awesome inspiration to read about how many miracles God preformed for her, individually. It helps witness God's love for us as his children, not just his followers. I have already recommended this book to friends. I am so glad I read it.

I am not much of a reader, so for me to recommend a book says something. I could not put this book down. I think I read it in a matter of just a few days (which says something as well...I'm a pretty slow reader). I remember thinking as I read of all of the horrid atrocities this poor woman faced how petty and small my "problems" truly are. After seeing the amount of faith Darlene exuded with every trial that arose, I was amazed and ashamed to think of the lack of faith I seem to exude as I face each day. She certainly reminded me that God is always there, no matter the obstacle. To God, the highest mountains are but pebbles. I cried tears of shame wishing that God would test and try me the way He tested and tried this woman, proving her tremendous faith. I highly recommend this book. It is bound to remind you what a great and awesome God we serve and what a privilege it is to be tried. It also reminds you of God's amazing love for each of His children. If you have not read this, you should. God truly blessed my life through this lovely lady's book.

I could not put this book down. The contrast of the inhumane and unjust imprisonment versus the faith lived out in the most difficult of circumstances was inspiring.Darlene Deibler Rose is a true Christian heroine. She has mentored me through her story. I asked myself the question, "Could I endure and still believe God was with me under similar circumstances?"...I hope so.

It always amazes me how the Lord can use those who will commit their lives to Him. He gives them super human strength. Phil 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" always comes to mind when I read stories like this.

I first heard Darlene Diebler's story as a testimony on the radio. I got a cassette of it and have worn it out listening to it over and over through the years. I found out she had a book and got it from the public library. I KNEW I had to have my own copy. This is a story that you can dip into fresh every time and learn something new about yourself and about God. If you're wondering if an "ordinary" person can make a difference in God's kingdom, Darlene will answer that question with her life's story. At the beginning of this year she went home to be with her Lord, but her story and legacy will go on, because anything we do for Jesus will have eternal consequences and enduring impact.

And she being gone, still speaks. If you think the life on one person just seeking to faithfully live for God doesn't matter, read this. God is shown to be most glorious when we are most in need. Read and share!!!!

A very compeling story that will reveal to the reader what kind of Faith they really have and actually do not have if the reader puts themselves in Mrs. Rose's situation.

Fantastic account of faith amid the horrors of war. Darlene gives a wonderful testimony in this book. It is a book all women (young and old) should read. I have passed it around to several friends. It is now being read by a friend in North Carolina!

As I read the experiences of Darlene Deibler Rose I learned more on the goodness of my Savior and Lord and of the faith he enables us to have when we are his children. I would recommend this book to everyone to read.
