The first time my 84 year old mother heard the first story from this "storybook" version of the Bible it brought her to tears! What a well written take on the Bible! The art is not every child's favorite, perhaps a little too stylized for a younger child who might prefer more realistic drawings. I like the drawings, but it was not written for an adult...

This Children's bible surprised me, it was better than I thought it would be. I was thinking basic bible stories but was captivated with the way the storytellers wove them all together and built to the climax, the birth and death of Christ. By the time you get to the new testament the kids already know who Christ is and why he came which makes his arrival all the more exciting! The grace and love of God is repeated throughout and it has great theology. Definitely recommend this children's bible.

Don't listen to 1-star reviews. This Storybook Bible is awesome! Yes, there is paraphrasing (it is a storybook!) but the story focuses on Jesus throughout the entirety of book!
I don't think the author advocates using this as a replacement for the Bible (she does learn under Tim Keller arguably the smartest pastor in America). The author does a great job making it fun for kids and tear-jerking at times for adults.
I can't wait to get more so I can give them to my friends who have children!

Of all the children's bibles out there, this one is by far my favorite. Rich language, colorful illustrations and biblically accurate and still made for the tiniest of hearts to understand - God loves them and only wants to rescue us from ourselves. They wouldn't allow me enough characters to describe how much I love this bible for my children. It's definitely my favorite part of bedtime every night.

I am 50+ and know the Word fairly well, but, I loved this translation. It spoke directly to my heart. I ordered a copy for myself!! Superbly written with wonderful illustrations!!

I purchased this bible a few years ago for my sunday school class and instantly fell in love with it and have purchased mulitple since then. It's the most beautiful love story of Jesus reaching for all his children and is told in the most endearing way. The illustrations are so sweet and fun. I love that it doesn't just simplify the bible for kids but re-tells the bible stories in a way that delights children (and adults!) by it's funny lines and deep thoughts. It's a love story of the best kind and my children in my class (3rd - 5th) are always delighted when we read from it! I've bought them as gifts for kids and my family and everyone has loved it.

The thing I like most about this children's bible story book is that it ties Jesus in at the end of every story and talks about how He is yet to come. My son has lots of books on his shelf for bedtime stories but ever since he got this for Christmas he has been requesting it every night.

I love this Bible storybook for young children because it tells each Bible story as one story... God's story of His plan and purpose for each individual. It makes wonderful connections to the reader and draws the thread of Jesus throughout. Especially meaningful are the introduction and conclusion in which the author relates the Bible, God's story, to the reader. The children I've shared this with love the humor and colorful illustrations. I highly recommend it! I teach first grade and my nine year old son enjoys it too.

This book is considered a children's bible story book, but I recommend it to everyone! My children love the stories and the way it is written made me understand things about the bible I had never thought about! We had to get it while it was on same bc it's a little beyond what we would pay, but we LOVE it!

My 4 year old cannot get enough of this Bible, and I love reading him the stories! He can't wait for bedtime and asks me to read three or four each night. I love the fact that every story ties back to Jesus. Best!

my 7 year old has already read this 3 times! she at first did not care for the pictures too much but the pictures do not bother her anymore. Once she starts reading, she cant put it down. When I read it to her, she would always say...one more mommy...one more...She also starting to recall the Bible stories and link them to our devotions. I am going to order more for my friend's kids

Art is a matter of taste, so you may disagree with my preference for the people not to look UGLY. As soon as I saw Eve rendered as the most unattractive woman possible, I knew I had to return the book. Also, the Lord Jesus looks...silly, clownish. Maybe you would disagree with me on the artwork. But if you are a born-again Christian believer in the Bible, read the one-star reviews. I should have read them before ordering the book. They are accurate. This book actually lies about what the Bible says in many respects and in many places.

This bible truly is a blessing. The author has an incredible way of telling the biblical stories accurately, yet in a captivating way that makes you smile and touches your heart. It is very fun to read, and my whole family enjoys it- from the baby to the parents! I received it as a gift from a friend, and since then, I have given it to many others. Great for any family!
