I had waited for this series and had really hoped to have adventure and suspense mixed in with history. I found myself waiting for something to happen and then there would be a little bit of excitement and just as fast it was over. Now it was a great historical novel about slavery in Africa, England and America. But my preference is more adventure with ups and downs. And this novel was a really sad story that went down and did not come up for a very long time.
When I bought these books, I had read all the great reviews and so I was expecting an exciting adventure. Instead, I found myself struggling to get through the series. They were poorly written and although the story was adequate, I only finished reading them because I had bought them.
