HarperOne The Renovare Spiritual Formation Bible, NRSV with the Deuterocanonical Books

Five years in the making, the Renovaré Spiritual Formation Bible seeks to recover the dynamics of Scripture for the spiritual transformation of the people of God: past, present, and future. It provides a view of God's community through history, the ups-and-downs, ins-and-outs of a with-God life. While other study Bibles serve as resources for sermon exposition, higher criticism, or personal devotion, the Renovaré Bible helps us capture the reality of living with the Trinitarian community in the ever-present kingdom of God. It recasts the Bible as the primary written resource for informing our minds and transforming our spirits in Christlikeness.

This edition includes the Deuterocanonical books.

The Renovaré Bible includes:

  • Major essays and graphic representations highlighting 15 expressions of the With-God Life

I had been previously positively impressed with writings of the authors of the study notes and comments. I am continuously surprised by the insights gained from the notes and guides in this study bible.

If you like Richard Foster's "Celebration of Disciplines", you won't be disappointed in this Bible. Every book of the Bible implements the disciplines, so this Bible makes you reflect and absorb more. For example, the Book of Daniel uses more spiritual disciplines than most books because Daniel had a tough life and he needed them so much for to survive. You see the disciplines at work in Daniel and how to apply them to your life. The long introductions to each book also tell you the main spiritual disciplines you'll be digging into. The index in the back listing many disciplines, their definition and scriptures to ponder under that discipline is wonderful. This Bible has made me drink deeper the Word of God. Highly recommended.
