This book was a waste of time. I hated reading it, and I wish I never had. It was a good many hours of my life I can never get back, and a good many thoughts I never wanted in my head. It had such promise, and wasted it all! A warning to those who do read it: the beginning has some sick material about a girl being sexually abused. I never wanted that put into my head - espcially by a Christian author! Even aside from that, it was a complete waste of time. My strong recommendation: DON'T READ IT!!!
I give the book 4 stars. It is an excellent read, and the twists and turns surprised me and kept me turning the page. Great characters and plot.4 starts instead of five because: I still like to see more Christian content in Christian fiction. The main character often drank and had hangovers, and gambled - often using dishonest methods - to pay off his debts. I cannot see that the book ended with him having a conversion, or a change of heart in those areas. That aside, it is probably the best book Singer has written
I've been looking for some good Christian authors who write fiction stories. This was my first book and I was very impressed. It kept my attention and I finished it in 3 days. I'm not a big reader, but the story was so interesting that I wanted to know what happened. I highly recommend this book and I plan to read more from this author.
Randy Singer is one of my favorite authors. The plot moves quickly in the book and drags you in immediately. I thought I had figured out the plot, but Singer threw a curve ball and the whodoneit mystery was a surprising ending. Great fictional read.
