This new testament has the ancient greek text approved by the Orthodox Church on one page and a modern Greek text on the opposite page. This is a difficult combination to find in the USA. This New Testament is small and portable with a text size that is heavy enough to be easy to read. The thing that makes it even better is that there is now a companion to this NT.
This companion New Testament has the same ancient Greek text and the same Modern Greek text but with the addition of center column references and bottom-of-page study notes (in modern Greek). This volumn is larger and not as portable of course. The companion volume is called the "Discipleship New Testament" (KAINH DIATHHKH Mathhteias) (CBD Stock No: WW575889) and is sold here at Christianbook.com. The latter is a larger book (hardcover). The font size of both books is about the same but the font itself is different. The former (smaller volume) has a heavier font that may be easier for some to read. The latter (larger volume) has a lighter, but more attractive font (though harder to see). They both have the same helps in the back (glossary/subject index and concordance).
If you are an Orthodox Christian, or just want exposure to both ancient and modern Greek, both of these New Testaments are excellent choices.

I do not know anyone who speaks and reads only greek, so I doubt that I would ever buy another one. If someone was looking for a Greek Bible I would recommend that they check out Christianbook.com.

Being Greek, and lamenting the paucity of helps in our tongue, this is a welcome work.
I have had my copy, among many other editions of the Greet Testament, for several years. And I like this one very much. I concur with Adam about its quality and "feel." The translation itself is fair, though it has not become the equivalent of the NIV or ESV in English. Other modern Greek translations have been made over the years, and the one that seems to command the attention of most evangelicals in Greece and Cyprus at present is a Neohellenic translation by Spiros Filos, which in reality is an updating of the Bambas translation of 1851 (mentioned in another review).
If you are partial to the text type that underlies the KJV and NKJV, then this is an affordable and nicely produced Greek Testament: A Handbook for Study and Life.
Highly recommended.

I got this book a few years ago. It is nicely bound in hardcover, the printing and paper were both good. It is light and feels good in the hand. The book has the original Greek printed on one page and a modern Greek translation printed on a facing page, much like a Loeb edition. There is also a dictionary and concordance bound in this edition at the back. These tools are also in Greek. It should be noted that everything in the book is Greek. There is not a word of English anywhere. The Koine text appears to be that approved by the Patriarchate of Contstantinople in 1904 (which is available electronically on the Greek Orthodox Archdoices of America web page), or something very like it. It is clearly a Byzantine textform, and includes many famous passages either omitted or double-bracketed in modern critial editions. These include the doxology at the end of the Lord's prayer in Matt. 6:13, the Pericope Adulterae in Jn. 7:56-8:11, Jesus' prayer from the cross in Lk 23:34, and the Comma Johanneum in 1 Jn 5:7-8. These are all included as integral parts of the text, without being set off or marked in any way. This edition has no critical apparatus or exegetical notes included with the text.Unfortunately, my abilities in modern Greek are even weaker than my abilities (such as they are) in Koine, so I cannot say anything about the translation. All in all, a lovely book. I would recommend it.

I was under the impression that the Modern Greek text side of this was the Bambas translation, but it is not. This may not matter to anyone else, but part of the reason I bought this book was that I wanted a copy of the Bambas translation. That's why the rating is 2.5, because it is half of what *I* was looking for.
