Standard Publishing Astonishing Tales of Spiritual Truth: Gripping Stories Based on the Sayings of Jesus

Steven James takes some of the most astonishing biblical parables and transforms them into brand-new stores for 21st-century teens. These 36 modern-day parables will expose you to God's truth in a fresh new way. You'll read tales like: "Rebellion on Terra 5," "Creatures of the Night," "Buried Alive," "Night of the Virus," "The Edge of Danger," and "The Only Way to Kill a Vampire."

Each story also features the original biblical parable, questions for reflection, practical applications for your life, and suggestions for sharing your thoughts with God.

I absolutely love Steven James both as a reader and Bible class teacher. My husband and I give this book out every year as a gift to the graduating seniors at our church. We have a large congregation, so sometimes we are getting 20 books at a time! Even though this is marketed for teens, I think EVERY Christian should read it. It tells stories that hit you as hard as Jesus parables hit his audience. It puts the ideas and truths in Jesus parables in common language that speaks to contemporary readers. It does not replace the Bible or try to replace the Bible. At the end of every chapter there are some questions to ask about the scripture. I think this book would make a great Bible class outline. Read the story, then the scripture, then get kids to talk about what it all means and how Christ is supposed to make a real difference in your life! Another reason we like it is because it is short easy to read chapters. A lot of kids don't read much, so this is something they can pick up a little at a time.
