Revell The Firstborn Advantage: Making Your Birth Order Work for You

Firstborns and those with a firstborn personality are often high achievers, business moguls, concert violinists and PTA presidents. But when they're out of balance, they can also be overly perfectionistic, people-pleasing, driven and critical. Psychologist Dr. Kevin Leman shows you how to maximize the strengths and overcome the weaknesses in this fun, informative and practical book.

If you are not familiar with this topic then it would be a good first read. If you have read before then go for a more researched book.

I'm yet in the process of reading this book, but I have found it to be quite interesting thus far. If your a firstborn and not sure where you fit in or should I say still trying to find "yourself", then this may be the book for you.

It was a great way to understand where I now fit in the birth order. I am number one in birth order and have many qualities discussed by Dr. Lemen.

I am already a huge fan of Dr. Leman's other books and this one is just as good. It really helped me as a first born to see why I am the way that I am. If you are a first born, this is a must read!

This is an excellent book in learning your personality traits and how they may affect your decisions in life. This book also explains how to balance your life by your trait so you can be a successful individual.

I was surprised to see this on a Christian Book stores list. I'm on chapter 2 and so far no scripture has been referenced.

As a first born, I was excited to read this. When I got hold of the book, it was not what i thought it was going to be but it has been an amazing blessing and the start of realising how I can use who I am to Gods Glory.

Reading Dr. Leman's books is like sitting in a lecture with your favorite professor. He makes the learning experience downright enjoyable. Plus, you can do it at your leisure, allowing, of course, time out for laughs.

Very interesting read. I still don't know if I believe the whole birth order thing because I know a lot of exceptions to how and why people have particular character traits, but I did learn a lot about myself!

This book is not all it promises. The ideas are nothing new, just talks about how certain people are more prone to be go-getters and so on. Not really a christian book. It does show the general nature of humans, but it does not do anything promising for your spiritual life.

As the first-born son of a first-born son, who has a first-born son, four first-born grandsons, and one first-born great-grandson, I can attest that Dr. Leman has painted a masterful (research-based and experientially-validated) portrait of the classic first-born. Not only are his characterizations accurate, his suggestions and advice coaching first-borns to capitalize successfully upon their strengths, remedy their weaknesses, and interface with persons in various aspects of life with persons of all birth orders are extremely valuable. His explanations of trait affecters and modification factors are very helpfully enlightening. A great read for first-borns; a MUST read for the spouses of first-borns!!
