I really enjoyed reading this book to my 4 year old grandson! He loved it, and enjoys sitting and looking at the pictures, as well as hearing the story.
It was a very worthwhile purchase!

This is a cute book about looking for the right Christmas tree. Wish it would have looked at the true meaning/purpose of Christmas. It said nothing about Jesus!!!

I was super excited about getting this book for my children for such a good deal. I am familiar with the original version of the book. This edition adds single lines about putting up the nativity and being in the Christmas program to apparently make it a Christian book. It also leaves out the last page from the original. Don't get me wrong; it's still a great deal and my kids like the storyline and great Berenstain illustrations, but I'm not sure how I feel about throwing in a couple platitudes to make it a new edition.

The illustrations are nice enough and the print size is good for young audiences, but I found it lacking in Christian content. It's about searching for the perfect Christmas tree, but there's no mention of Jesus or the true meaning of Christmas.

I wanted to love this book. It's Berenstain Bears! It's Christmas! But, and I have found this to be true of most of the Berenstain books co-authored with Mike Berenstain, it's kind of awful. The prose isn't sure whether it wants to be traditional folksy straightforward narration or Dr. Seuss which makes it terribly hard to read. The illustrations are just what you'd expect until you get to the page where the angry eagle hurls an axe at Papa Bear and the cubs. Which is a little unnerving. Perhaps if you've never read Berenstain Bears you would enjoy this book but if you're expecting it to be the Bears of your youth, look elsewhere.
