Review 1 for His Princess: Girl Talk with God--Love Letters & Devotions for Young Women
Sheri Rose Shepherds book of devotions for teenage girls - His Princess Girl Talk with God - is a lovely gift for any young woman struggling with the pressures of the world. Sharing transparently from her own life, Shepherd deals with eating disorders, premarital sex, purity, parents, and much, much more through a lens of Gods love for us as His daughters.Broken into forty brief devotions, each is presented in three parts. Shepherds own experiences on the topic at hand, an imagined love letter from Gods perspective, and a scripture verse to tie everything together. If you condensed the text it would be around one-and-a-half small pages of text altogether, though its broken up visually onto four pages per devotion. Her approach is one that calls young women to both follow Gods high calling for them, while also providing space for His grace and forgiveness when we fall. At times her personal stories are hilarious (walking off the end of a stage at her first beauty pageant) and are at other times heart breaking (her struggle with drugs following her shame over a teenage abortion) so many are memorable. The book is formatted perfectly for gift giving to a special young woman in your life who may need encouragement in her walk with Christ as she struggles against the pressures of this world. Even my seven-year-old was fascinated with the design of the book vibrant hardcover filled with colorful pages (white with red text, pink with red text, and red with white text); shes asked me to save it for her for when shes older.Because she tackles mature, tough issues, I would recommend this book either for tweens and young teens in a public school environment where those pressures are felt so much earlier, or those over fifteen if they are in a more sheltered environment such as being homeschooled.

Review 4 for His Princess: Girl Talk with God--Love Letters & Devotions for Young Women
I actually got this book for my daughter, Sarah (she turned 14 this week). I gave it to her and she just finished the 40 days of devotionals in it. I asked her what she thought and these were her responses... I actually understood it. The stories each day were true stories about her life, that was cool. Each day had a letter to me from God and I knew that she might have typed it but it was things that God wanted me to read. The Bible verse each day made a lot of sense to me because they were tied in with that day's story. If she wrote another one I would want to get it too.I also wanted to point out that Sarah read each day's devotion and then posted the Bible verse on her Facebook page. We had a friend of mine tell us that she was following Sarah's daily verses, even though she doesn't go to church she was enjoying seeing what verse Sarah posted each day. I thought that was a great witness to Sarah that little things can make a difference. I was very impressed by how much Sarah enjoyed this devotional book. I'm looking forward to finding more like it for her now that she has shown the dedication to read this one!

Review 5 for His Princess: Girl Talk with God--Love Letters & Devotions for Young Women
His Princess Girl talk with God, Sheri Rose ShepherdThis is a charming little book. The devotions only take a few moments to read. Each ones is a life story, followed by a Letter from God, and scripture to tie the story and letter together. I think the stories are very applicable to the lives of teenagers. They are short and to the point. The letters are beautiful expressions of love from God as a father to a daughter. Short and sweet just the right size for even the busies young lady. These will encourage a closer walk with God and a longing to get to know him on a more personal level. I am recommending it to our youth group as reading for this fall.Thank you Revell for this review copy.
