This was an odd sort of sequel/prequel, telling the supposed "back story" of Anne of Green Gables. I found it convuluted and rather sadly depressing; it droned on and on, and I actually fell asleep before it ended, something I never could imagine doing with the amazing Anne series. It was really a letdown, and was too expensive for such a poor showing.

I enjoyed this movie very much. I do think that the Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea were the best of this series of stories, but this was also worth watching and I'm glad to have in my collection!
