I really love this book and I'm using it with my 3rd and 4th grade boys. I like how there is repetition of the rules, reviews, and focus on practacle things they encounter. I am all for learning how to spell through writing and not spelling lists, and this is helping them grasp the mechanics behind our crazy langauge to help them with their self editing.

Haven't really got to try it yet. It's for extra Summer work this summer. But it looks like it will be ok for him.

If your child hates spelling, this is the book for you! It teaches/reviews one spelling rule each day, with a few minutes of practice time. Each one-page lesson can be completed in about 10 minutes, giving your child just the right amount of practice without boring or frustrating them with those pesky exceptions to the rules, which are presented in a seperate lesson. There is one full year of lessons in the workbook.

I am grateful to have found this book! My daughter is in 6th grade & struggles with spelling. She did not need nor did I want to make her plod through an elementary spelling book. It was too childish for her & would not have suited her needs. I stumbled upon this book & feel it is a true blessing. It is exactly what she needed! A simple yet thorough review of the spelling rules with just the right amount of practice. She has been able to improve her spelling skills without all the extra fluff in elem. books. The price fit our budget perfectly too. I had looked at a couple other recommended spelling programs but we could not afford them. (In my opinion they were way overpriced.) This price was extremely fair. A big thanks to this author from a grateful homeschool mama!

Thank you for Apples! This is a straight forward and easy program to use. Our kids love it and don't complain about Spelling anymore. My daughter wishes there were more than two books. She has said many times that Susan Kemmerer should publish books on other subjects. Great for struggling and non-struggling spellers alike.

This has been very beneficial for my son. I have been having him do one page a day along with the Sequential Spelling. He said it has helped him because of the review of the spelling rules. I would recommend this to anyone who needs an extra edge on spelling.

Apples is a very easy program to implement. I have struggled trying to add a remedial spelling program into our already full schedule in the past. This just about 10 minutes a day. My boys (ages 11 and 13) are doing well with it so far.

We have found this workbook to be helpful and manageable. The lessons are about the right size: quick but meaningful. There is enough variety in the exercises to keep monotony away, but enough repetition and review to make the rules stick. Some of the exercises are intuitive in nature, which can be somewhat frustrating when dealing with new material. Overall, however, this is a good tool for strengthening spelling skills.

This book is great for students who struggle with spelling and its many different 'rules'. It repeats the same rule for several lessons with different words allowing the student to see and use it more than just once before moving on to another one.

This book has been a great help for those of my children to whom spelling does not come easy. I personally got straight A's in school in spelling, but soon forgot all those words I memorized to get the good grade. This book takes a different approach to common spelling errors. It focuses on the general rule of spelling with practical practice in daily bites. Very well done! I intend to use it with any of my children who are not naturally good spellers.

This book is a good workbook to supplement any spelling program. My 7th grade daughter uses this every day along with our other program. A new spelling rule or "clue" is introduced followed by several worksheet pages. There is a review page every ten days that goes over the last two rules studied. The pages are fun yet informative. The segments are short and do not overwhelm the student. It is strictly black and white with no color illustrations, but this does not affect my child. I would definitely use this again for my other children.

I love this! In my opinion, this is a much better way to learn to spell than the traditional method of memorizing words in a list. My 6th and 8th graders enjoyed this workbook, and I have seen an improvement in their spelling skills.

The format of this book is very comprehensive. It helps to reinforce rules of spelling through daily practice and introduces a new rule each week. In my opinion this is a more practical way to teach spelling rather than through rote (memorization and spelling tests).
