This book is a keeper. The author is truly gifted and she created characters who were interesting and endearing. I laughed in parts and I cried in parts. She created a wonderful picture of ccommunity life.

I've been a manic reader my whole life, and this is one of my all time favorite books. Top five. Every time I meet a new person who is a reader, I buy this book for them. The title and cover makes them wonder (it looks like a romance novel or something), but once they get through the first chapter, they're hooked for good. It has enriched my life and the lives of everyone I've given it to. I can't recommend it enough. It deserves a ten out of five!

Having read these novels previously, I purchased this 3-in-1 combination for a friend because I found them to be so well written and absorbing. I love Christian writing that doesn't preach to me and these definitely fill the bill . The characters and story speak for themselves, allowing the reader to think deeply on the spiritual truths they contain. Very entertaining, moving, and impacting.

This book is just incredible. It is the only work of fiction I have ever started to re-read immediately after finishing it (and I read a lot). It made me laugh, weep and most of all, think. I hope Penelope Wilcock writes more about the brothers.

Rate this book between 0 and 5? Impossible! The Hawk and the Dove deserves 6. When I tried to describe this book to my friends, I was at a loss for words--it is unlike any book I have ever read. I cried, I laughed, and I sat with wide eyes and gaping mouth, amazed at the truth I had glimpsed. Without a word of "preaching," Penelope Wilcox prods deep into your heart and opens doors you may want to keep closed. I have had doors opened and, in the process, have found more of the Light. And all this was done without lessening the delight of "just reading" this remarkable book.

The Hawk and the Dove is one of the most thought provoking fiction books I've ever read. Penelope Wilcock delivers a fascinating glimpse into middle age monastery life while gently challenging readers to consider what it truly means to be Christlike. It's one of my all time favorites!
