Saxon math works well for us. I was using level one for my daughter who is almost 7 and I realized she was getting bored. She already knew the material. I decided to order level 2 and it is perfect for her. She really enjoys this curriculum as do I. It is so helpful for me to have everything spelled out for me as to what I need to say. I am impressed with the material that is being taught. It is a good foundation!

My son enjoys filling out his meeting book every morning. It does seem cheaply made we will see if it lasts all year.

Don't miss out on all the components of the Saxon curriculum. I have used Saxon from the Kindergarten through the fifth grade curriculum with my three school aged kids. I can see how it all fits together through the various grade levels. It does make sense and the repetition is worth it. Concepts that I wish I had been taught the "Saxon way" are made so easy as the concepts build step by step each year. The calendar may seem easy, but it has a purpose each year. I love how Saxon uses it to bring new things to light in each different grade level.

This book certainly is not a "must-have" for the K2 curriculum. My second grader has known how to use a calendar for several years, so it's too easy for him.

You know, I didn't really get the whole meeting book thing in the beginning. But after using it, I can see that it allows my child to connect the concepts with its application. Through repetition and gradual introduction of new concepts, my child has been able to excel by building on what he knows and increasing what he knows everyday. It helps both him and me to get "warmed up" for our daily assignments and hold onto our previous learning gains. What a wonderful way to transition in new materials and concepts!

We love using Saxon Math for our first grader at home. She has really loved using the meeting book. Much more than a calendar used to track her progress. She's learning about graphs and number patterns...

While this is not necessary for the Saxon math program, I find that having the meeting book is helpful and saves me from printing out calendars, graphs, etc. that are used in the curriculum.
