Forty five years on the mission field and she never took a vacation. The work she started with orphans still goes on. She wrote many books and I want to read them all. She is rembered by many and was burried on the mission field : also rescued many young children from life in the temples. All young christians should read this book.

A wonderful biography that brings Amy Carmichael to life, so you can vividly see how her determination to follow the Lord's leading in her life dictated the path of her ministry in India.

It would be impossible, I expect, to ever write fiction that could top the real life adventures, challenges, and victories of Amy Carmichael's life. Elisabeth Elliot has caught the tenor and excitement, the laughter and tears, the grandeur and quiet charm in retelling the truth of Amma's passion for souls, the truth of the Gospel, and her dauntless courage in the face of incredible obstacles. What a challenge to my own life!

This was an inspiring story of the passionate life and ministry of Amy Carmichael. Amy had no tolerance for "nominal" Christianity, and her zeal for the Lord and His work really shines through in this book. Elliot does a great job, though, of portraying her as a well-rounded character, not hiding her quirks and peculiarities. Amy was often maligned in her own time for refusing to settle for the norm. She sought the higher ways of the Lord, and many times suffered much criticism for doing what she felt God was calling her to. You will certainly be challenged to grow in faith and in your Christian walk through this excellent biography.

One of the best books I've ever read. A very deep and personal look into the life of one amazing missionary. I found it to be inspiring in the sense that God uses us as much as we are willing. I am richer for having read the book.

I love this book! It is convicting, very moving. Elizabeth Elliot does a wonderful job of bringing Amy Carmichael's life into focus; and allowing the reader to see God's hand. I rate this as a must read for my daughters when they are teens.
