Knoodle U Publishing Drawing on History , Pre Civil War- Vietnam 1830s-1970s

Beautifully designed by homeschooling mom Deborah Swanson, Drawing on History provides an easy, fascinating way to integrate Art History into your curriculum. Artists are affected by the events of the world going on around them, the styles coming and going with the times, the zeitgeist---and these effects often show up in their art. A great way to not only add art into your standard history, but to look at history through the lens of art!

This survey of art from 1830-1970 covers the major art movements, folk art, and the historical context of famous artists. Each lesson provides an introduction to a specific art movement, research questions, and learning objectives. Questions are open-ended and the research questions are designed to inspire children to conduct more extensive investigations. Assignments include both recreations of specific art forms as well as more technique-based exercises; photographs of projects help students to see precisely what elements they should by copying and how other students' art work was completed. Recommended books, websites, and movies are also included. A convenient timeline chronologically aligns world events, art events, art projects, and the Beautiful Feet Book List.

This course will take one year to complete, and was designed to be used alongside Beautiful Feet Books' US and World History senior high curriculum, including the books used in that course. This book may be used independently, but it is highly recommended that you use the sold-separately DK ART book. Extremely easy to correlate, each lesson begins with the page numbers in the DK ART Book, with the sidebar listing the Beautiful Feet Book to use, recommended resources, research questions, materials needed for the art project, and a quote.

One-year course. One lesson will take approximately 3-8 hours/week. 64 pages, softcover, spiralbound. High School.
