This survey of art from 1830-1970 covers the major art movements, folk art, and the historical context of famous artists. Each lesson provides an introduction to a specific art movement, research questions, and learning objectives. Questions are open-ended and the research questions are designed to inspire children to conduct more extensive investigations. Assignments include both recreations of specific art forms as well as more technique-based exercises; photographs of projects help students to see precisely what elements they should by copying and how other students' art work was completed. Recommended books, websites, and movies are also included. A convenient timeline chronologically aligns world events, art events, art projects, and the Beautiful Feet Book List.
This course will take one year to complete, and was designed to be used alongside Beautiful Feet Books' US and World History senior high curriculum, including the books used in that course. Extremely easy to correlate, each lesson begins with the page numbers in the DK ART Book, with the sidebar listing the Beautiful Feet Book to use, recommended resources, research questions, materials needed for the art project, and a quote.
