Alright so I bought this book planning on saving it until August. I will be going to Boston you see and wanted a book to read there so I can "feel it more." I don't know. All I know it that did not work!

I have been KILLING myself these past three weeks! I thought "out of sight, out of mind" would work but boy was I ever wrong! Julie's books are just too good!

The book was ALWAYS on my mind! I finally asked a friend to hold it for me and I finally thought I would be able to do this. But then, my friend called in tears and said it was the most amazing book ever. So yeah. I was over there in less than a minute, back home, in my bed, and reading it!

This book was just amazing! I think out of all Julie Lessman's books, I cried most in it but in a completely positive way! This book at parts just crushed me but in the end, that is what made the book for me! That and the fact that God is such a (*!*)BIG(*!*) part of the story. No, I love just how much He is in it! Like, He IS the story! Without Him, there would be no happy ending and I just love how much closer I am to Him now because of Julie's books!

This book made me laugh, cry, stay up all night reading it, and stay up all night thinking about it! No, I am continuously thinking about this book and I LOVE it!

Another thing I should mention was I bought this book without even reading one review or the description. No, I am dead serious! Julie's first three books COMPLETELY won me over! By the fourth, I knew Julie wouldn't let me down and bought it without a second thought! You can be sure I will be buying everything Julie puts out as well as loving it! She is an incredible author and it tears me up thinking some people may be missing out on her!

Anyway...though I am excited to read the next and last book in the Winds of Change series, I know it will be bitter sweet. The O'Connors are like family to me. Their stories have changed my life so incredibly much! Like, I didn't think it would be possible! All the tears and laughter I have had over these books really makes them all the more real to me and I do not want to say good bye to the O'Connors! It is almost going to be like saying good bye to a good friend...

All I know is Julie's books are ones I will be keeping FOREVER! And - God willing - they will be the books I will give to my daughter to read once she hits my age knowing how much her mother as a teen loved them! <3

Oh, I knew there would be some tough times in this book; how can there not be when Emma is separated from--but still married to--an abusive drunk? And still, I hurt for Emma and Sean so much! However, considering that Emma is not free, I thought the romance was very well done. For the most part, they are simply incredibly good friends that continue to grow closer and closer. And then when they discover they care more for each other than they had realized, they take pains not to push into adultery. And I wondered the whole novel how the "Rory issue" would be resolved so they could be together!

I revise my earlier opinion and state now that this is my favorite of the O'Connor novels so far. Sean has long been a favorite of the O'Connors - kind, tender, hard-working. I love his reserve and care, even if he has struggles buried under his friendly facade. And Emma, so scarred inside and out, is such a beautiful person. Even though she is sweet and genuine and apt to give too much of herself, she isn't a complete pushover anymore; she has learned to act with authority and to stand up for herself and others. In some ways it amazes me she is such good friends with Charity, and in other ways it's no surprise at all; they make quite the complementary pair.

This book ties in most with A Passion Redeemed and A Hope Undaunted, with a strong secondary focus on the sisters Charity and Katie. Thus we get to see the ups and downs of their marriages too; a strong reminder that even though the wedding is over, every couple still needs to work on and safeguard their marriage.

As usual, there is a very strong spiritual thread to the novel, with lots of truth printed in the pages. You can't deny the author's love of the Savior!

Here is yet another great story about the O'Connor family of Boston! I have enjoyed these stories so much, that I almost feel a part of the family. Julie Lessman does an excellent job of writing tastefully about the emotions and passions of romantic love. Her passion for God also is a major part of the books she writes. Sean O'Connor is a great older brother, and Julie does a wonderful job of writing about family relationships. There are elements of love and always forgiveness in each of the stories. When you start on one of these books, it is hard to put it down! I highly recommend all of these books about the O'Connor family of Boston, but do read them in the order written for a continual story line.

Each time I start the next book about the O'Connor family, I think it can't possibly be as good as the last one. Yet, each new story captures my heart more completely. Maybe it's because I can hardly convince myself anymore that these beloved characters didn't actually live & breathe. Whatever it is, Sean is currently my very favorite of all the guys in these two series. I absolutely adored his easy-going, charming, can't stand to see a lady cry personality. Emma's struggle surprised me more, but her character remained graciously beautiful throughout the story. Sean's transformation from nominal, family faith into a man after God's own heart was nothing short of spectacular! Then there's the lovely benefit of Julie masterfully weaving the other family members into every new book. I loved watching Katie & Luke learn to submit more deeply to the Lord & to one another. As for Charity, I didn't like her at all before the second book, but every new story makes me love her all the more. Take a well deserved bow, Julie Lessman because A Heart Revealed has earned a place among my favorite books of all time!

With Passion, Love, History, Family, and Church —

"The Winds of Change" -- Unveils the Most Heartwarming Love Story to Date!

    "A Heart Revealed"

    Julie Lessman

    Revell, September 2011

"A Heart Revealed" provides the perfect fusion of an abiding faith and romantic passion. The heroine, Emma Malloy, is a most sympathetic and lovable heroine. The reader may even come to think that Emma is 'too good to be true'...but she's not. She's real. She's worthy. She's someone a man could love without reservations. Yet, she's all too human.

"A Heart Revealed" tells a heartwarming love story which is central focus of this romance novel. Yet, "A Heart Revealed", is much more than a love story. It's a family history. It's a small slice of American history. And while it may rightly be called Christian Fiction, it could just as well be classified as historical fiction about an Irish Catholic family in Boston at the turn of the century and beyond.

I must say, that this series of books, "The Daughters of Boston" and "The Winds of Change", is very personal to me. I come from an Irish Catholic family that lived in the area during the years covered in this O'Connor family saga. A lot of my family still lives in the Boston area. Everything in the book is so real to me. The Catholic Church, the priests, the beliefs, practices and attitudes are all vividly real to me. I knew priests like Father Mack. I looked up to good men like the heroes in this saga. I don't think I've enjoyed a family series any more than I have this one by Julie Lessman. There's love and respect for her work found on every page. This whole Lessman series has the imprimatur of a life work.

    Over 50 Reviews & Counting

As of today, "A Heart Revealed" , has been reviewed over 50 times on CB alone. So I won't say too much about the story itself except that it's really four stories in one.

There is Luke & Katie's story. There's Mitch & Charity's story. (Charity is more 'Charity' than ever before!) There's Sean & Emma's story. (We get to see the real Emma at last). There's Patrick & Marcy's story. (Complete with Gabe's story). As expected, all these threads are woven together into a narrative that is greater than the sum of its parts. The reading enjoyment begins on the first page and continues right up to the dramatic conclusion.

    The story:

The fifth O'Connor to face love and marriage, Sean O'Connor, is the hero in this story. Emma Malloy is the heroine. She is married but estranged from her husband who lives back in Ireland. He abused her often and finally when he scared her face with hot oil, she left him. Emma is a saint to all who know her but she is much more than meets the eye. Even the people who know her best don't really know her. This is a very complicated story which surprised me again and again. I loved it pure and simple.

I believe that each book read in this "O'Connor Family" series leverages the reading enjoyment gained from reading the next book. I highly recommend reading the books in order; however, "A Heart Revealed" stands on its own and will provide a wonderful reading experience. I also think it would be enjoyable to read "A Heart Revealed" first and then go back and read the rest of the books in order. I often do this when I have not read the early books in a series.

To make it easy to learn about and find the other books in the series, I am listing them below. When I have reviewed the book, I have left a link as well.

Book One: "A Passion Most Pure"

    Book Two: "A Passion Redeemed"

    Book Three: "A Passion Denied"

    Book Four: "A Heart Undaunted"

    Book Five: "A Heart Revealed"
