I have been waiting for the sequel to Roadside Assistance to come out. I really enjoyed the first one and wanted to see how Whitney's life turns out. Well, I was equally happy with the second book. Now we await the third.

Whitney is a senior in high school. She should be having the time of her life. Her grades have always been good. She has a football player boyfriends. She is in the popular crowd. However, things start to unravel around Valentine's Day. Her boyfriend breaks up with her and letter to her mother comes in the mail. Her Calculus grade is way less than spectacular. Her mother feels that she needs a tutor in order for her to get into the right school. Whitney is feeling the pressure to be perfect in everyone's eyes. She doesn't want to admit she needs help at first. She just wants to finish her senior year and move on to her own life.

Whitney's mother is very annoying in the book. She is very demanding and very controlling. Her father is more laid back and tries to understand Whitney's point of view. Whitney's friends add to the pressure on Whitney. She must have the right boyfriend to suit them even though Whitney is starting to have feelings for someone they deem less than stellar. She is so confused at this point. Taylor, her unpopular tutor, starts to make Whitney question her priorities. He makes her look at and want things that her mother and friends do not want. This adds pressure to Whitney. What path does she want? Why is she trying so hard to push some paths away? Will she be able to find her way? With the help of some well respected people and God's nudges, Whitney begins to find the path that she feels is best. She begins to see new opportunities with different eyes.

This is a great series for young adult girls and even guys who may be struggling to find their own way in life. The teenage years can be full of pressures that make one feel like you need to take only one path. However, as Whitney discovers, God places opportunities in your life for a reason. Don't just push things aside because someone is expecting you to. You need to find your own way despite what others say.

Destination Unknown by Amy Clipston is about high school senior Whitney Richards. The story is told from the perspective of Whitney. Whitney is a star student and is very active in elite groups at school. Witney struggles with Calculus and is forced to get a tutor. The tutor is a guy that many people in Whitneys circle look down on. Through the story, Whitney questions who she really is. She feels that her mother is trying to control her life and Whitney struggles with how to handle it.

Let me start off by saying that I loved this book! I was so engrossed in the story that I had a horrible time putting it down! I connected with Whitney and I felt her struggle through the story. I honestly felt like the characters were real people and that Whitney was telling me the story.

Getting ready to graduate can be stressful. A student has to get ready to prepare for their future and leave behind what they have known for most of their life. I think this story is really relatable to many young adults. I found myself caught up in this story and I felt the emotions throughout it as well. I think Amy did a very nice job making the story feel so real and relatable. I appreciated being able to get and honest look at Whitneys emotions because it made her more believable.

I thoroughly enjoyed Destination Unknown. Im not one to read a book again, but I feel like I could read this again. It was well worth the time I spent reading it!

Although Im miles past my young adult years, it was much simpler than I expected to re-connect with my teenage thoughts and feelings I have a theory that Amy Clipston writes such amazing books that she makes it easier to connect because she writes it just as I remember it to be.

Dont let the cover fool you Whitney stays and shows everyone that she knows what she wants and shes willing to do what it takes to get it.

Without giving away too much (hopefully), I could so identify with Whitney when she lies to cover up a truth that she knows will just upset everyone else. She tries to convince herself it really isnt much of a lie, but she knows better. And when the truth comes out, lots of people end up hurt including Whitney!

Fortunately, she is learning to depend on God through prayer, as well as being strong enough to face her family and friends with the truth and sincere apologies.

    Amy is an amazing writer!

Ive been told not to expect any other YA novels after Miles From Nowhere is published, but Im hoping in the years to come that Amy will be able to publish more YA novels teenagers need to read and hear her sage advice, hidden inside her novels.

    Happy Reading!!!

Ive read this lovely book twice, and it never gets old! The plot, family dynamic and the Christian themes provide just enough depth to tone down some of the annoying characters. (Characters that are actually necessary to the feel of this story.)

This book is a contemporary in that its very simple to read and understand but its not fluffy or air-head-ish like most of that category!

Whitney suffers from the consequences of her parents spoiling her just a bit too much-and getting a rude awakening when she meets Taylor. Immediately, that relationship is very interesting..Their personalities and backgrounds being so different; not to mention she feels humiliated having to meet with a tutor. God uses him and many other circumstances to teach her about the shallow-ness of the circles she runs with. She realizes through painful conversations that everything shes been striving for in the past several years has been meaningless and not near as important as her and her family always believed.

I LOVED this book both times I read it. Its super quick, yet packs a punch!

As for some of my negative thoughts, I dont appreciate how Whitney described appearances a few times.A tiny bit too descriptive for my taste. Im not saying it wasnt realistic, it just shouldnt be portrayed in a book thats read by younger girls. :-) But thats honestly all.

Overall- I would recommend this book to any girl 12 and up, especially if youre in the mood for a palate cleanser storyline!! ^_^

Whitney is the captain of the cheerleaders, Honor Roll, always striving to be the best at what she does. She teaches cheerleading, tutors and then when her mother finds out that she made a D in calculus she hires Whitney a tutor. How embarrassing. As she becomes acquainted with her tutor Taylor, they strike sparks due to misunderstanding the other. As their friendship grows she finds herself changing but family doesn't recognize that she is. She quits the cheerleading squad, her boyfriend breaks up with her on Valentine's Day after giving her a cheap box of chocolate. Then when he sees her with Taylor he tries to get her back.

This is about a teenage girl beginning to grow up, dealing with the pressures of being almost an adult, but not quite. Whitney begins to question her life and values, relies more on her faith and finds new friends, renewing old friendships and just being a typical teen. This is a book more for young adults and teens. The author recognizes the issues that teens deal with and she shows how one girl deals with the issues of growing up.

I received this book through www.bookclub.org and the author to read, review and give my honest opinion. Amy Clipston is an author I've read several of her books. This one was good (even though I'm a grandmother to boys) and I would highly recommend it to young adults and teens. I've read Amy's books about the Amish and she is a favorite author.
