A triumph of rigorous scholarship and sound theological judgement, Keil & Delitzsch remains one of the most popular Old Testament commentaries available. This commentary set includes a discussion of the nature of Old Testament literature, introduces each book of the Old Testament, and offers in-depth analyses of the Hebrew text. While the content is unchanged, its format has been updated, and some errors from the original have been corrected. This edition is newly typeset in modern, easy-to-read type, Arabic has been transliterated, biblical references have been changed from Roman to Arabic numerals, and long paragraphs have been broken into shorter ones so that the work is easier to read. Finally, please note that this edition does not include a CD-Rom.

This is a well-written and masterly piece of sound Christian and evangelical scholarship on the Old Testament - the original source of the evangel; and the source that the inspired apostles used so well. The Old Testament is not used nearly enough by us as the rock of faith in Christ who is the Rock of the Church. These well tried volumes will help us all to put that wrong right. Well produced and a pleasure to read.

This is a classic commentary that is probably one of the best commentaries on the Old Testament by a single author. I have been wanting this set for a long time and will be referring to it often.

I was familiar with this work from seminary days. Because of it's age, it lacks much of insights from recent archeological and textual research. However, the price was too attractive to pass up. Due to the age and very conservative approach of the work, I always use it in conjuction with more recent and more moderate commentaries.

The Keil & Delitzsch Commentary on the Old Testament is an excellent value. I have been aware of this commentary for years, but when I saw it at the excellent price which Christianbook.com has, I had to buy it! I was aware of the excellent scholarship of Keil & Delitzsch, but having my own copies of the books has far exceeded expectaions!

I was very pleased with my recent purchase of K & D O.T. Commentary set. Very affordabley priced, readable print, looks great in the bookcase and most importantly this is a classic, solid O.T. Bible Commentary for personal study!

A friend had an older edition of this set and highly recommended it. This set of books is well made and the paper is a crisp, bright white. The content is in-depth with good introductions and commentary. I am currently leading a study of the books of Habakkuk and Zephaniah and I'm enjoying the additional insight from this set.

I purchased this set referring to ratings and hoping others new best. I have never given my input on a rating, but this set's ratings are deceiving and must be noted in context against other products currently available. First, be aware of the original publishing date of 1866-91. Second, be aware of the target audience. This set is not for the layman but the Hebrew scholar. The text is full of words written in Hebrew and references to these words is highly distracting. Text is not expository and explanations are broken up into confusing comments, references, colons and semicolons, and Hebrew notations. As a layman who loves the Bible, I was disappointed and find it unreadable and, as a result, it sits on my shelf collecting dust. (Quality is a 3 only because the binding and printing is good, and the authors are highly respected.) Even if I entered seminary, I do not think I would find this set helpful due to the confusing presentation of information.

Great price 90% off of a set that I needed and I just had no choice I needed it as this is the best you can get for commentary on the OT. Normally its $700.00 or more.
