Isn't sexual - or emotional - intimacy enough? "No," says Christian psychologist Dr. David Clarke. "Spiritual bonding is the process by which a couple cultivates the presence of God in their relationship," he says, "and it's the only 'glue' that sustains relationships long-term." Working with hundreds of couples, Clarke observes that when we take specific steps to keep God at the center of our relationship, every area of intimacy is energized. This book teaches men and women in a committed relationship how to pray together, create "spiritual conversations," read and study Scripture together, hold private worship sessions and allow the Holy Spirit to guide. It's extremely practical counsel all couples need today. 200 pages.

To have a great marriage it takes work, and this book shows you how to work on the right things. It gives practical, day to day exercises that a couple can do together to help them to grow in the Lord, both as individuals and as a couple.

Review 2 for A Marriage After God's Own Heart

Overall, an excellent book, emphasizing a Biblical approach to strengthening your marriage. Very practical steps that can be taken to enhance the spiritual bond between husband and wife. Many fine examples from real counseling experience. The first two-thirds (approx) of the book are very Christ-centered, while the final portion shows more emphasis on Dr. Clarke's professional background (Psychology). Still, the latter portion is only a change of emphasis, not of direction.
