The Campus Survival Guide is a well-thought out compilation of encouragement and support written by current students to current students, addressing issues of interest and importance for the one who is trying to make sense of college challenges.
Examples of topics included are learning to rely on God, coping with illness, processing as an eye-witness tourist in New York the events of 9/11, jealousy, establishing priorities, and roommate clashes and solutions.
More importantly, each university student-authored essay is connected to Scripture passages selected for their similar focus and relational quality, presented as a daily devotional read.
Finally, each theme is followed by a helpful selection that ties the thoughts together in an honest, straightforward way, perhaps adding that “spoonful of sugar” to help “the medicine go down.”
Yes, I wish The Campus Survival Guide devotional had been available when our daughter was in school. What a practical and powerful tool to help the serious student not just survive but thrive in that unique era of life known as "the college years."

I am a big fan of short stories and articles, like “Chicken Soup for the Soul”. The Campus Survival Guide not only has short articles actually written by college students, but has helpful words of wisdom after each article with further suggestions of scripture. I appreciated the candid honesty of the students, covering every subject from weight to pornography, and the students come from all over the country with varied backgrounds. It is a book I think that parents would enjoy as much as college students, providing insight to what many students face as they enter their college years. I loved it.

The Campus Survival Guide is a great little devotional book. The essays are written by students who are writing from their own experience. Their stories offer encouragement and spiritual insight. The companion articles on topics varying from healthy eating to overcoming loneliness are good, too. This book makes an ideal gift for high school graduates who will soon face the challenges of university life.
